Israel advises citizens to leave India

AFP [ SUNDAY, JUNE 02, 2002 12:14:12 PM ]

JERUSALEM: Israel's foreign ministry on Sunday advised Israelis in India to leave the country, amid growing tension with Pakistan.

"The foreign ministry advises Israeli citizens who are in India to cut short their stay," the ministry said in a statement.

"It is only a recommendation, we don't want to cause panic, but in any case we are asking Israelis living in India to contact our embassy in New Delhi or our consulate in Bombay in case they need assistance," ministry official Orit Shani told Israeli public radio.

Some 10,000 Israelis are estimated to be currently in India, which is the favourite destination of young men and women after they complete their military service.

Israel and Pakistan have no diplomatic relations and Israelis are not welcome in the Muslim-dominated state.

How many countries now have asked for their people to leave these two countries. Even the UN has asked it's family living or visiting there to leave. Something big is going to happen and I don't think even we (the USA) can stop it.
