Bush Extremely Strong With Base (06/01/2002)

WASHINGTON -- Occasional grumbling by some prominent conservatives about President Bush sometimes overshadows his extremely solid support among stalwart Republicans and conservatives around the country.

Many Republicans and Democrats seem to agree that support by itself does not tilt the 2002 elections toward the GOP. Some, however, say it could offset the gains the party out of the White House -- Democrats, in this case -- historically has made in midterm elections.

Oh yeah and what about Waco, and the Randy Weaver incident,

Waco was an abomination, Weaver is a coward that sacrificed his wife and son for a gun rap and is quite happy and rich as a result.

It's not what freedom's I "have" lost. It is what freedoms I "Will" lose as I get older.

You want some freedoms I lost? Well here is a few from the young 19 year old recently out of school. I lost the right to learn other theories besides evolution in school. I lost the right to learn about the real history of my country.

When I own a house I will lose my rights of property to a taxing government where even if I pay for the house should I stop paying taxes on it the government will take it. I lost the right to have a small government with little control over my life that serves only to defend this country and prevent anarchy. I lost the right to not be over taxed by a government that spends billions on things which offend me. But what's it matter. That's just of the top of my head, their is much more I am just to tired at 230 am to think about them.

LOL One of my two favorite libertarian "nutcases" in the world of FreeRepublc. How goes it Blues?

It goes pretty decently these days, Tex - I've spent most of my time of late on two projects: one, a baseball Weblog (or blog), The Diamond District; and, two, my first book, about the original (1962-63) New York Mets. How about you, old friend?

You are not listing "rights" you are listing "desires".

No, I got your point; I was making another one. BTW, President Bush didn't promise to get the Fed gov out of education. Neither did he ever say that he was going to disban that department. No president has EVER made that promise.

I was merely explaining to you, that you're not going to get what you want. Is the public school system broken ? YES ! Can it be fixed ? Yes, but ... it would take a great deal of work and many decades to do so under our present system of government.

Thought crime is against the constitution yet it exists. You actually get more prison time if you disliked the person you commited a crime against. I guess that is just desire to right? Just because I can't list all the rights now doesn't mean they aren't their. And if you try to say government taking away private property for not paying taxes is a "desire" then you have no idea what the word "right" even means.

You can't even build on your own property without first getting government approval. Want to build a new bathroom, need government approval, new room, more government approval. Want to put up a large fence on your property, that might be illegal. I mean after all it is your property.....well not really...not anymore. But I'm sure that those are just more desires, we all really just desire to have the rights we had stolen from us given back.

Thank you for sharing this excellent analysis of what's happening on this thread and the reality of what is happening in the real world of American Politics:

Jorge posted: As much as we've heard from the nit-picking fault finders who repeatedlty threaten to abandon Bush over a single issue, it seems they are not as significant as they would like us to believe. When Bush's numbers are sky high and even stronger among the Republican base...these whiners either never supported Bush or they are simply the perpetually implacable minority. In which case worry about them is a waste of time anyway.

Amen brother Jorge, worrying about them is a waste of time as they are truly the irrelevant lost souls wandering the desert looking for some miracle 100% conservative to magically appear, while shouting, "The end of the world and Global Warming is coming soon! I will never vote for GW again!"

WI Mom, I threw the global warming in just for you.

Wrong. -- They were rights, at one time.

Here is a pretty weird example of a desire:

I can tell you this with no bravado. I will shoot on sight any person, group or organization that decides that "it is time". I don't care if they are a self styled "patriot" group, the Black Panthers, the KKK or foreign and domestic terrorists. They are all cut from the same cloth. #306 - texasforever

Did you see your cop-killing hero Frank Zito got the death sentence on Friday? Read it and Weep

What a shame he didn't walk on that 4th Amendment technicality, eh? The shotgunning deaths of two cops were certainly the lesser of the two evils - wasn't that your position?

Don't despair, tpaine, you still have plenty of time for conjugal visits to that sweet Francis.

LMAO I hate to break this to you youngin’ but getting building permits have been around from the time two homes were built and called a neighborhood. Hate crimes are ridiculous but very easy to avoid, DON"T do the crime. Got it?

Yup, you got it right. Texas seems to think that he can automatically oppose virtually every fact and call it something else and it will be accepted. To bad Texas, history hasn't been fully erased yet....You'll have to wait another 20 years before that one will fly as truth. The fact of the matter is like tpaine said those were all rights at one time. For someone who supposivly lived through these times you would think you might know they were rights. I guess this 19 year old who didn't live through those times knew they were rights at one time....so much for the age assault.

LOL You have me there Tpaine, when I wrote that you were foremost in my thoughts. But then who would follow me around like a lovesick puppy making puddles on the floor around my chair. You are safe, you are just too harmless to harm.
