WASHINGTON -- Occasional grumbling by some prominent conservatives about President Bush sometimes overshadows his extremely solid support among stalwart Republicans and conservatives around the country.

Many Republicans and Democrats seem to agree that support by itself does not tilt the 2002 elections toward the GOP. Some, however, say it could offset the gains the party out of the White House -- Democrats, in this case -- historically has made in midterm elections.

You're right. The liberal leaders do have guns, but their ideological sheep the general liberal population doesn't. So we still have the advantage in that department. But America is for lack of a better comparison infected with aids. We are essentially fighting our own imune system. The liberals the aids virus have turned the general population against it's own immune system the patriot. We don't have much longer because America cannot continue on this path without becoming complately socialist within another 2 decades. Time will tell if we again win our freedom for the future generation.

The Education Bill has enough strings attached to it, as to hogtie the Dems, make Teddy red in the face and sputter, and have the NEA going ballistic. With a GOP majority in both Houses, President Bush will bring back bochers. Not enough for you ?

I would prefer to see zero federal involvement in education. Any "success" by the GOP in this area will be perverted by the NEA functionaries embedded in the DoE bureaucracy and the next Dems that hold the the White House.

I am 19. I just left school a couple of years ago, seperation of church and state does exist. If you try to bring religion into history you will get in trouble.

The Church of England and the Government of England persecuted the Christian Pilgrims. They risked death and disease on a three-month sea voyage to flee from English law. They brought forth on this continent a new nation. A nation free from British nonsense.

There is no separation of church and state. The church, to preserve religious freedom established the state. The term "separation of church and state" was recently coined by the Supreme court in 1947 by misquoting Thomas Jefferson.

Nine of the thirteen original states had established religions, which were prerequisites to citizenship. The first amendment did not separate church and state. The first amendment was ratified to prevent your Federal government from establishing a religion. As proof that the first amendment didn't prohibit state religions, one need only confirm that the states continued their religions long after they ratified the Bill of Rights. Massachusetts in 1828 was the last state to disestablish its religion, Thirty seven years AFTER the First Amendment allegedly separated church from state.

November 11, 1620. Mayflower Compact: Pilgrims aboard the Mayflower, in Plymouth Harbor, Covenant "For the Glory of God and the Advancement of the Christian Faith..."

May 19, 1643. 1756 John Adams, America's second President: "Suppose a nation in some distant region should take the Bible for their only Law Book, and every member should regulate his conduct by the precepts here exhibited... What a paradise would this region be!"

1781, Thomas Jefferson: "God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are a gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever."

July 12, 1804, Alexander Hamilton's last dying words after Vice President Aaron Burr shot him: "I have a tender reliance on the mercy of the Almighty; through the merits of the Lord Jesus Christ. I am a sinner, I look to Him for mercy; pray for me."

If there wasn't a bloody uprising , during the secod term of Clinton's presidency, don't assume that there is going to be one in the future. Muskets and guerrila warfare worked against the British, in the 18th century. It is not going to work in the 21rst. century against this government.

Gun owning Dems don't like the gun grabbers either. Unfortunately, there aren't quite enough of them, to beat off the likes of rabid gun grabbing Dems, in various locals.

Even you readily admit the tax cut "wasn't enough." Everyone realized it was symbolic at best.

There will NOT be another tax cut for years. Between the fiscal black hole of "Homeland Security", picking up the tab for phantom "intelligence" which will cost the taxpayer trillions in further defense measures, and W's promise of billions in foreign aid, the sh*t will hit the fan minutes after his second Inaugural.

Look -- if your point is Dubya has tricked the Drunken Senator and NEA, and is incrementally moving the country ideologically to the right, it has not been proven as of yet, but I hope that's how it shakes out.

Assessing the President's performance thus far, I would rate it a 5. He lost big points with his handling of illegal immigration at the Mexican border, which is no small issue in of itself.
