I think we need to focus on the ring and the photographer, let's see if we can make further conclusions about what we see in these photographs.
So, the first question I have is this: Where can we obtain a list of D.C. Freelance Photographers that do work for the AP?

I'd contact Associated Press. They have a main office..I once did some election work for them (my Ex was a newspaperman) Will see what I can find.)
Here's CONTACT INFORMATION:
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
International Headquarters
50 Rockefeller Plaza
New York, N.Y. 10020
MAIN NUMBER 212-621-1500
Photos: 212-621-1900
Know any NYC freeper. they may put you on hold for awhile. Most offices are very cooperative, once you get the right person.

Reg, when the link works again click on the post by MeeknMing. The photographer's name with the AP is printed right on the picture. I saw it earlier while I was at work but I can't post at work, (only lurking allowed). Sorry, I figured you would have seen it or I'd have said something earlier tonight!

Isn't it likely that a member of the DC police department has been following this thread? One would hope that they initiate follow-up on some of the possible leads discussed here. Or would they dismiss it as the speculation of amateurs?
