what is the donut watch list?
To: Texas_Jarhead
It's a list of articles related to the topic of alleged donut abusers. I don't want to be accused of profiling, but some less tolerant souls than myself have claimed that the alleged abusers tend to wear the color blue, but are usually not members of the Crips.

When my oldest son was 3 years old, Hill Street Blues was popular. He used to run around in circles whenever he heard their theme music. At that time, he wanted to be a policeman when he grew up so that he could eat all the donuts he wanted. (Now, at 22, he's spent nearly 4 years in the USAF and will begin Basic Cadet Training at the USAFA in late June--Class of 2006.)

That's the Citizens' Committee for Responsible Media (I think that's the title; I'm an original member, but I'm used to the acronym.), founded and maintained by FR's own Peacerose. Peacerose writes a weekly "Media Outrage" report, and then puts the outrages up for a vote for the "Media Outrage of the Month." I don't know how to get around to the reports directly, but at seamole's member page, he has a table of links for all bump lists.

I can still remember that music; I always loved it. What, no badge? But I guess raising a flier has its consolations, too.

He spent one year at the Air Force Academy prep school before going on to the academy. He retired as a light colonel a few years back and now, I believe, is practicing law.

The people of this city, of both races, have been betrayed by a pathetic class of politicians, too used to fawning to ever do what is right in any crisis--great or small.

I'll take that to mean that the article is accurate.
I just read your essay from last year. My, how little has changed. But I don't know -- my impression of black Cincinnatians is less sympathetic than yours.

My son has been at the Prep School for the past year. It's been an awesome experience for him and his family. I've been up there for parent's weekend and more recently for his graduation from the prep school. The speaker at his graduation was a 3-Star General who is Vice Commander of European Operations (Wally Morehead--don't laugh, but I got his autograph on the graduation program). He was a Prep School grad. He graduated from the USAFA in 1969; two other of his classmates are also 3-stars now--must have been a good year. Sometimes it seems like a dream that I have a son at the academy. Get this, his reason for going into the USAF out of high school was, in his own words, because he needed the discipline (and he did).

But I guess raising a flier has its consolations, too. And worries, too. Right now, he wants to be an astronaut.
