Congress and GWB are going to continue pushing 245(i) - the amnesty for illegals amendment. If they can't get it passed before the 2002 elections, they know they can after the election--when it is safer to do so. They won't stop until they get it passed--unless those like Tancredo can gain enough support to stop it.

Yep, that is the plan. This issue will come back to haunt Bush but then again I don't think he cares. The rear end view of a Mexican Donkey must be the Bush family's coat of arms.

I don't think W cares about reelection either. I think he has a list of goals to reach during his term for his family's interests. Permanent MFN status for Red China was one of them. His uncle Prescott wanted that one. The things he pushes for apropos to no urging by his party or his voters will be the things to examine, like Wobbly's EO banning importation of certain semi-auto rifles.

Wobbly's tenure should have taught us not to let a Bush get the nomination for any office.
