Condoleezza Rice Warned Sept. 6 on Imminent Terror Attack
NewsMax.com ^ | May 29, 2002 | Carl Limbacher

Posted on 05/29/2002 11:29:43 AM PDT by Carl/NewsMax

Five days before Sept. 11, National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice was warned that a terrorist attack inside the United States was imminent, a former U.S. Senator who headed up a blue ribbon commission on terrorism revealed late Tuesday.

"I've known the national security advisor, Professor Rice, for about 20 some years," former Colorado Sen. Gary Hart told WABC Radio's John Batchelor and Paul Alexander. "She was a supporter of mine in my first presidential campaign as a graduate student in Denver."

After giving a speech on the terrorist threat in Montreal on Sept. 5, Hart said he requested an urgent meeting with Dr. Rice in Washington.

"I said to her, 'You must move more quickly on homeland security. An attack is going to happen.'

"That was Sept. 6, 2001," Hart told WABC, without characterizing Dr. Rice's reaction.

The night before, Hart said, he issued the same warning to an air transportation group in Canada.

Three years ago Hart and former New Hampshire Sen. Warren Rudman co-chaired the U.S. Commission on National Security for the 21st Century, which warned specifically of a domestic terrorist attack.

In a Sept. 15, 1999 report the Hart-Rudman Commission concluded, "America will be attacked by terrorists using weapons of mass destruction and Americans will lose their lives on American soil, possibly in large numbers."

In fact, every Secretary of State since WWII has been a member of CFR.

What a shock!

Diplomats interested in foreign relations.

I may never recover...

"I said to her, 'You must move more quickly on homeland security. An attack is going to happen.'

Wow. With such detailed intelligence, how could the administration have failed to prevent the attack?

I was a subscriber to NewsMax but was turned off by earlier headline grabbers without merit so I cancelled. I will no longer visit their site either. Evidently they aren't interested in credibility, only hits on their web site.

I'm aware of the tin-foil brigade. I just don't believe them.

That line is being used today...while there may be some degree of higher security now than prior to Sept. 11 2001 it's hard to see a great deal of it at the borders of the USA. At present any measure that might be effective seems to be in the determination of the political classes to be a no go. Certainly it would have been prior to the attacks. Freepers are constantly moaning the US is not doing enough security wise. The US is still sleep walking to a large extent through a fog of PC.

Imagine Donna Rice as National Security advisor! Would Hart have had time to worry about terrorism?

"I've known the national security advisor, Professor Rice, for about 20 some years," former Colorado Sen. Gary Hart told WABC Radio's John Batchelor and Paul Alexander. "She was a supporter of mine in my first presidential campaign as a graduate student in Denver."

Well, if that's true, then she's not as bright as people think, because Gary Hart isn't exactly the brightest bulb out there.

After giving a speech on the terrorist threat in Montreal on Sept. 5, Hart said he requested an urgent meeting with Dr. Rice in Washington.

So, in his speech, did Gery mention the 'imminent' attack, how it wsa going to take place, and where? And did he offer his solution to stop it? If not, he's full of shiite. LEt's see the transcript.

"I said to her, 'You must move more quickly on homeland security. An attack is going to happen.'

Wow, he requested an urgent meeting to tell her the obvious and in such detailed terms, too? Duh, bin Laden issued his fatwas YEARS ago... but even bin Laden had more to say than Hart.

The administration had already sent an ultimatum to Afghanistan to turn over bin Laden for past offenses against the US and had already issued warnings that terrorist activity was very high. Heck, even here on FR it was evident that 'something' was going on because of the increase in frequency of apparently arab, pro-Iraq, pro terrorist postings in the weeks immediately leading up the 9/11 and ending abrubtly roughly three days prior to 9/11. Some of the posts had included threats towards other posters.

There are so many ways to hit the US that if you focus entirely on one thing you will likely miss an attack on a different target or an attack in a way for which you are not prepared. For a determined group with very small, tightly knit cells of people who have known each other for years, you are not going to be able to infiltrate much less cover, any and all 'soft spots,' most assuredly not in pre-9/11 America where the biggest issue on any Democrat's mind was global warming and Kyoto, and of course, social security and health care... and "the kiss." I didn't hear 'national security' out of any of them during the election, except in reference to cutting it to redistribute funds to social services.

I guess if folks can't succeed against their main target, they will go down the line until they can stick it to someone, anyone, just to make themselves look like they are all-knowing. It is ironic to see the same people saying "I told you so" who once were doing everything they could to cripple the US.

Listen. I understand where you are coming from. I have seen some stuff, even here on FR, that is sheer lunacy. However, what has happened is that a whole bunch of different issues have been collected into one pot and labeled "tinfoil hat". I have been on FR for many years and a while back I had had enough of the lunatic element so I decided to spend some time checking into some of the claims. I was surprised by what I found - particulary with the respect to the Council on Foreign Relations, The Carnegie Endowment for Internation Peace, the Trilateral Commission (yes, there actually is such a group) and a bunch of others.

What I found was not some diatribe by a web loon. I simply went to the groups' respective sites and read what they had to say. If you spend some time on these sites you will see that they are proposing and, worse, getting implemented some pretty scary things. Just as interesting, on some sites they offer archives and I was able to go back and read what they were proposing 20 and 30 years ago - much of it has come to pass.

There will always be conspiracy nuts out there but the trick is to separate fact from fiction. I have found that the best way to do that is to research it myself.

homeland security.--Was this two word phrase commonly used pre 9-11? (I think not)

The term "homeland security" was in use prior to 9/11 and Hart was one of the users. See my post #52 above. (Hey, there is no way I am defending the guy - just trying to set the record straight).

Wasn't the phrase "Homeland Security" originated after 9/11???

How was Condoleezza Rice supposed to know what he meant anyway?

When Gary Hart approaches a woman and says, "An attack is going to happen.", it usually means he's inviting them to go boating.
