Don't I know it. I'm one of the people that argues endlessly with those people about it, and that is my field of expertise. The real problem is that they know just enough to get their ass handed to them in an argument with someone who knows their stuff, but don't know enough to realize just how ignorant they actually are. It generally boils down to an argument of definitions, with the other guy refusing to acknowledge that the mathematical definitions are more correct than their pedestrian versions that they are attempting to apply to the mathematics. Feh... Don't get me started. And then there are the ones who don't know the difference between infinite and finite, or the absurd and incorrect definitions of "entropy" I've seen used. It goes on and on. Ignorance abounds.
