Lighten up Captain Hornblower. What you know about being at sea could be summed up in two words. Jack Squat! What W knows about active duty military service can be summed up in one word. Nothing. You'll just have to excuse me for not being a card carrying member of the GW Bush fan club.

The point is that John Kennedy for all his faults went to war, a shooting war. He had his boat cut in two by a destroyer and had the skills courage and bravery required to save his life and the lives of his crew. W has done none of that. While his father served in WWII, does the fact that he got shot down make him a failure as a pilot?

Kennedy only "went to war" because he was saved from dismissal from the Navy through the machinations of his criminal father. Try reading "Reckless Youth" and The Darkside of Camelot" for the truth about his so-called exploits and his many failures. You've been reading too many Kennedy white washes.

As for knowing nothing about the Navy, there's where you are totally wrong. I have studied every history of the Naval operations in the Pacific in detail for years. Have you? As for Bush avoiding active service, his unit was not called up, but he would have gone. Denigrating the National Guard is foolish too. They have served in every war to date and done so with honor.

You're claiming that qualifying and flying the hottest fighters we had at the time (not ground attack slowpokes - Bush's flights were too fast and so were set for anti-A-bomber mission in defense of the continent) is NOT 'experience" in the military?

You'vew got to compare Gore's "record" of 1/2 year at a rear press officer's station with a fighter pilot's position: at a time when 1 in 4 ejection seats WERE used to bailout. (In case you don't understand, that means over a ten year period, you've got a 1/4 chance of being killed while flying. Press officers in Vietnam who's father was a senator and assigned bodyguards to their darlings were pretty well protected in comparison.

Seems Kennedy screwed up (got ran over by a far less manuerable ship, far slower, far slower to accelerate!) in the dark ... while PT's next to him saw in time to avoid collision.

Granted, his recovery was good ... but surpassed by many other thousands in that war.

Sorry, you're typically blind, hysterical hatred for conservatives in showing through.
