A polygraph can be junk if it's used improperly. I do think though, that if administered properly, they can be helpful. Early on in this investigation several FBI agents, (former), gave pretty good details on how an effective polygraph would be administered. Starting with basic questions, leading into more detailed questions and finally with very specific questions. Throwing in a question occasionally with details that were not public. That only the guilty party could possibly know. Otherwise, they could react just based on things they had heard/read.

As far as when Billy Martin said this, it was on LKL last night. He was interviewed along with Chandra's aunt, Linda Zamsky and another woman that is a Levy family spokesperson. I can't remember her name right now, but the entire transcript is on cnn.com

Levy pushed for Condit to divorce, friend says

By Helen Kennedy New York Daily News

WASHINGTON -- In the weeks before she vanished, Chandra Levy was more and more intent on getting Rep. Gary Condit to leave his wife, according to a friend who spent hours strategizing with the love-struck intern.

Despite warnings, Levy was determined to "have this confrontation" with Condit, pal Sven Jones is quoted as saying in a Talk magazine article.

"She was not the type of woman who was going to be the little mistress waiting home on the couch," he said.

Jones, a spokesman at the Bureau of Prisons who became fast friends with Levy during her internship there, said he warned her not to press her 53-year-old congressman lover. But Levy, 24, reportedly told Jones, "I've invested too much in this."

Washington police repeatedly have said Condit is not a suspect in Levy's disappearance.

Jones said the Levy-Condit relationship was intense, with Levy alternately angry with Condit and placated by him.

On April 28, two days before Levy disappeared, she left Jones a melancholy phone message. "She sounded different," he said. "She had a sort of odd tone."

The next day, Levy spoke to Condit and left an upbeat message on her aunt's machine, saying she had "big news."

Jones, who has passed a police polygraph, refused to divulge Levy's secrets when first interviewed by the New York Daily News in early May, when it was still plausible that she might be alive. He spoke to Talk magazine a few weeks ago.

The Daily News obtained a copy of the article as author Lisa DePaulo began a publicity campaign on CNN's "Larry King Live."

Levy had a penchant for older, married men, according to Talk. She had dated a married doctor in Sacramento and an affair with a cop in Modesto, Calif., ended when he refused to leave his wife, Talk reported.

Condit's wife, who began a rare five-day visit to Washington on April 28, suffers from a viral infection, friends told Talk. A longtime friend of Carolyn Condit said her bouts of physical pain are "triggered by Gary's philandering."

Condit was home with his wife when he took a May 5 call from the Levys looking for their missing daughter. They became suspicious because he instantly offered to put up money for a reward, the article said.

Meanwhile, the FBI determined that an anonymous tip saying Levy had been buried at a Virginia military base was a hoax.

"There is no site on or around the Fort Lee military base that corresponds with the information provided in that anonymous tip," the bureau said in a statement.

For the record, Sven not only passed a polygraph, but was in Europe at the time Chandra disappeared. He produced proof, (credit card receipts, etc.), to the DCPD and has been cleared.

Last night, huh. Can't get much more recent than that. That is a very interesting thing for him to have said.

I was half asleep listening to the replay that comes on late. I heard it and thought I had imagined it so I looked up the transcript today and sure enough, there it was.

CONDIT ASSAULTED TEEN AGE GIRLS!
WIFE ATTACKED Chandra, Phone Call

CONDIT TEEN SEX CASE WORKER FEARS FOR LIFE; FILE MISSING

CONDIT Assaulted Teen Age Girls!

Two young women who claimed they were sexually assaulted when they were interns for Gary Condit 15 years ago. The investigator, who refused to give her name out of fear, says the two young ladies, who worked for Condit when he was a California Assemblyman, told her they fled California because they were afraid he was going to kill them. She took statements from both girls and passed them on to a "peace officer with the Alaska Troopers.

I had a written statement from the two girls. It was kept with other interviews and records in a warehouse. It was mysteriously broken into later and the statement was stolen."

The former case investigator says she believes Condit is a "dangerous man" and she fears for her life.

NOTE: It's well known RAPE vicitms keep it secret out of shame and fear.

========

The NATIONAL ENQUIRER has tracked down a former female investigator from the privately run Alaska Juvenile Crime Commission who says she interviewed two young women who claimed they were sexually assaulted when they were interns for Gary Condit fifteen years ago.

The investigator, who refused to give her name out of fear, tells the ENQUIRER in its August 7 issue that the two young ladies, who worked for Condit when he was a California Assemblyman, told her they fled California because they were afraid he was going to kill them.

Hall says she took these statements from both girls and passed them on to a "peace officer with the Alaska Troopers."

"No action was ever taken that I know of," the investigator said.

"I had a written statement from the two girls. It was kept with other interviews and records in a warehouse. It was mysteriously broken into later and the statement was stolen."

The investigator's work is confirmed by Marroyce Hall, the chairwoman and one of the founders of the Alaska Juvenile Crime Commission.

"At the time she told me it was two girls who fled from a powerful figure in California. She believes it was Gary Condit."

Hall also confirms that the Commision's warehouse was broken into, and that no records could be located on the investigation.

The former case investigator says she believes Condit is a "dangerous man".

"I'm in fear now."

COPS: CONDIT WIFE ATTACKED CHANDRA; FURIOUS PHONE CALL
Filed by Matt Drudge JULY 26, 2001
http://www.drudgereport.com/flash1.htm

The NATIONAL ENQUIRER is set to report in its next edition set to hit newstands Friday that Gary Condit's wife attacked Chandra Levy days before her disappearance after a furious phone call between the two.

The ENQUIRER reports that the call between Carolyn Condit and Chandra Levy has been discovered by case investigators in which the missing intern told the wife that Gary Condit was going to dump her, and start a new life with Levy.

"Investigators got phone records that show a phone call from Condit's home in California to his apartment in Washington that was over five minutes long.

"Condit said that he did not talk to his wife during that phone call because he wasn't in the apartment at the time."

Gary Condit is said to have become enraged that Levy broke a cardinal rule of his and picked up the phone at his D.C. apartment, and confronted her over the encounter.

Investigators have pieced together that Chandra was at Condit's apartment at the time and saw on the Caller ID that an incoming call was coming from Condit's California home and that Chandra boldly picked up the receiver and that a 'blow-up phone call' ensued.

It was after that call, apparently, that Carolyn Condit took off for Washington on April 28.

Detectives now want to give Condit's wife a lie detector test because, according to a Justice Dept source, she is "now being looked at as a key to the whole investigation."

According to the ENQUIRER, Carolyn Condit has refused to take the exam.

Thanks! I remember reading those last summer.

So where was Carolyn at or about 1:00 on May 1st???? Maybe GC had his "body snatcher" clean up after his wife. I certainly would not believe an alibi from either of them. CAROLYN IS THE KEY TO THIS CASE.

HHMMmmmmmm........A little "VD" maybe....... The reason both Chandra and Gary had also gone to see the DR. before their 'break up'?????

Read somewhere yesterday that statistically women murder by someone they were "involved" with is more than the total of all other reasons combined. You can't tell me the police don't consider him a suspect.

Nancy Grace said that last nite. Might be true since no one is disputing it.

I just looked it up on Google. No recent statistics that I could find, but the latest report, (1993), very detailed including rape, incest, murder, battery, etc. indicates that 70% of women that are murdered are killed by a husband or lover.

Brigette -- Yeesh, that guy does have big bad feet! He also looks quite loony and frightful. I think the media is hyping the Salvadorian guy up more than albert because Chandra was found near the general area where the other guy attacked his 2 victims while they jogged.

Sarah W -- Thanks for all the article posts. I never knew the full story of what this evil man did. I don't feel he is involved with Chandra's death.

Hoosiermama -- I agree with you; Chandra was in a completely different area of the park. Also, some talking heads (Nancy Grace for one) have said that albert's dirty business took place far away from where Chandra was found, so they doubt albert is guilty of Chandra's death. Nancy still casts her finger of doubt towards condit (like many of us!)

I wondered about that too, but I don't know how well that evidence would hold up in the environment. I also wonder why the killer(s) didn't remove the clothing. I would think that Condit and his friends would be smart enough to do that. I'm not so sure about Ingemar.

A viral infection? Herpes? HIV? Hepatitis C? I've always said Carolyn has the emaciated look of an AIDS patient.

I didn't know that Chandra and Gary both had to see a doctor before she died. That's news to me.

Egads! Mueller, the clean-up guy, will make sure this case comes out sanitized. He wasn't voted in 98-0 for nothing.

Hi Fred! So are you suggesting that the US Senate confirmed Mueller 98-0 so he could provide cover for Conditit? You do have an active imagination. Sure, it is likely that Mueller, an inside-the-beltway-boy, was confirmed because he is a team player (e.g. both sides are protected). But the Dims could care less about Conditit. Even if he didntdoit. See Ya 'round.

~ a pair of Reebok running shoes

Interesting. Earlier reports described them as "tennis shoes". Don't know how significant this is. I also heard that she prefered to run at the gym, and was "security conscious" about the park and other locales in DC. She could have decided to go jogging in the park, but my bet is that she went there to meet someone. Condit.

But hopefully, there is a cabbie out there who will come forward with new details to help police.

Agreed. It is interesting that a taxi driver has not come forward to say where Chandra was taken. Could be fear.

I realize that the source of this article is the New York Daily News, but their argument is plausible.

Could have been the move by Chandra that sent the sociopathic Conditit over the edge. Death could have been premeditated or accidental (i.e. the result of a scuffle in the park). He was not going to go along with her youthful plans for their relationship. No way. He had a career, a wife, a family. Give that up for a few roll's with a twenty-four-year-old? Nope. I hate to say this but, and I hope most of you ladies out there will agree with me, that after the sex, if you're married, you still have to talk about things. What does a 50+ year old have in common with a 20-something who isn't his daughter? This was about sex all the way, and Condit was never going to let his future be affected. He thought he could control the situation, and when he found that he couldn't -- especially with his wife's visit and Chandra's assertiveness, he killed her, either purposefully or accidently. In the park. IMHO.

Washington police repeatedly have said Condit is not a suspect in Levy's disappearance.

Wouldn't bet on it.
