It's in the blood - In my family both men and women (I'm female) have served from WW II forward. My aunts & Dad in WWII, my mother's first husband was killed in Korea, 2 of my 3 brothers served in VN. My twin sister's oldest boy graduates soon and last summer signed up for Invantry/Airborne/Ranger schools.

USS America (CVA/CV-66)1969-1970 (NMIB) CR Division May her boilers be relit and she sail the seas again. If this not possible then may the Flag Ship be preserved as a museum to honor our nations name sake. Her active duty days were far too short and her fate is undignified.

Allow me to brag a little more,I'm so damn proud of my big brother and Bravo Company.
Between November 1990 and January 1991, 4th Tank Battalion was mobilized in support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm. Elements of the battalion were "in country" and combat ready within 32 days of activation. During the Gulf War mobilization, the 4th Tank Battalion, a United States Marine Corps Reserve unit in the 4th Marine Division, successfully transitioned from the M-60 to the M1-A1 Main Battle Tank in just 45 days. The battalion trained, shot and qualified, then deployed to the Gulf where it fought alongside its active Marine Corps counterparts. Indeed, one of its companies knocked out 35 of 36 Iraqi tanks in less than five minutes.
