There was no escape from the roof because, quite simply, it was impossible to LAND there with the smoke and wind, not to mention the FIRE and the antennas.

Try to be real.

The last time I looked, Bush and Rumsfeld had control of those prisoners, nobody else. Nobody seems to be arguing with them.

Maybe you missed this earlier post about their "control"? (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/689651/posts)

That was my point, WE are not divided; some of "us" are more divided than other, but they were the ones who were "divided" before, you know? :-)

They don't like Bush, never will like Bush, and take any opportunity to bash him, thus provoking us; then when we naturally defend Bush, they can come back and say we march in lockstep, don't think for ourselves, and don't care as much as they do about this country and the Constitution.

It has something to do with their self-esteem......they MUST hate to live, or something like that!

Very brutal. I had seen many of the shots before but some of the footage was new. The sequence with the jumpers and the final shot of an almost unidentifiable body in the street almost made me lose it. All of the memorial/funeral footage was especially powerful and sad. And of course the closeups of the towers being hit is like nothing you could ever imagine. The most memorable line to me was the Police Commisioner admitting he was helpless to do anything. He said 'do we have a number we can call?' When the NYPD police commisioner becomes a spectator and then a participant in the worst day in the history of NYC, that is a powerful moment.

Anger doesn't even express it for me. Rage is more like it. It hasn't gone away. It never will. See you soon.

The smoke was obscuring the tops of the towers too much, also, landing a helicopter with the sort of updraft caused by the fires in addition to the crosswinds would have been damn near impossible (The WTC was just too damn tall for "routine" helo ops, let alone landings with thos kinds of conditions.) Additionally, the north tower had too many aerials, cables and pipes so that left only the south for the only helipad on either bldg.

You dare link me to a BRITISH newspaper, yet again with UNNAMED SOURCES. So typical. Believe ANYTHING bad you can about this country, okay.

There was no way they could rescue the people from the roof. They couldn't even get near them. Those people were doomed from the start. They couldn't get out of the rooms to go to the elevators anyway the fire was in the building behind them thats why they broke the windows.

I've been doing a slow burn for 8 months now. I'm not at all happy with the Muslim body count in our war on terrorism, but I realize that you can't rebuild a military in a day.

What did Bush do? He flew the Stainmaker halfway around the World so that lowlife could get to Manhatten before the President.

But no one cares, or even remembers. People remember "the people who did this are going to hear from all of us." None of the other stuff matters. After 9/11, America doesn't hate Clinton; it doesn't think about him at all.

do you really think our response after Sept 11 would have been much different if Gore had won?

If Gore had won, we'd still be trying to get stronger language in the official UN statement.

I feel President Bush has been a very good leader in this fight against terror.

Tell me what more could he be doing?

The slackers are the Dassholes and the Gebhards.

You mean the article sourced to a disgruntled federal employee who has lost his job after a long dispute with the Pentagon?

President Bush is fearlessly resolute. With his steadfast leadership America will vanquish the "evil doers". Regardless of the constant sniping, snickering, sneering by the democrat leadership most regular Americans make no mistake and understand deeply that our most precious and dear freedom is at stake.

I get my vibrant faith from the valient selfless heroes who raced in to the raging World Trade Center inferno. I get my faith from the brave men and women on Flight 93 who never once looked back and did the right thing. They gave us the courage and resolve to prevail. They gave us the freedom lover's inspired cry for our times,
Let's Roll.
Roll, we must.

Today young men and women are fighting terrorism on the front lines for our country. They risk their lives each and every day for us. They are fulfilling their oath of duty. We as united citizens on the home front must, too. We cannot let them down. We, the American people, are the fearless defenders of liberty.

Never Must We Cower. Never Must We Surrender. Never Must We Forget! September 11, 2001

I read the entire article and the previous ones that the NYT has printed, they did a very good job on the recent 9-11 articles.
