The article isn't about Pat. And in THIS article an excellent and valid point is made. Suppose our kids wanted to have "white proms" or a "white awareness" group. There are any number of parallels to what the various ethnic minorities, most notably blacks, have. The point being made is that it is either racist to have these special groups or it isn't. Personally, I am of the opinion that there is nothing wrong with ethnic pride, white or black, and in a "free" society we should be able to express it. I'm not even sure there is anything wrong with it if some people choose not to associate with members of another race as long as there is no crime committed against anybody. Oh sure, people have to associate in some settings just because of where they happen to be at any given time, but I don't think being exclusionary is necessarily always bad. It is a matter of freedom and choice.
