So, in summary:

Mr. Maher's defense was that there was no criminal intent. Does this mean that he admits lighting the fire, intending to rescue the occupants? In the US, that would be criminally negligent homicide, since it would be reasonably foreseeable that the fire could get out of control.

But, it appears that Monaco's idea of due process doesnt include all the formalities ours does. But due process appears to still be there.

Let Monaco do what they will; this certainly doesnt look like the issue Bush should spend our nation's diplomatic and political capital on. The dude appears guilty.

Actually, if he did admit to setting the fire with the intent of rescuing the people, then I don't see how he can say there was no intent. Obviously there was an intent to create a dangerous situation which would require "rescue."
