I did do a google search on Guandeque's name and "Rock Creek Park," and that search found two DOJ press releases, the one you linked and another. It found nothing else. The media seem to have responded to that press release by reporting nothing.

As I know from my own experience when I was beaten with baseball bats by a black gang at a Metro station outside D.C. and tried and failed to get the media to report it, there are certain crimes that the media will not report. From the address where he lived, I surmise Guandeque is black or Hispanic. His two assault victims are apparently white. That may be why the media wouldn't report their assaults. Or maybe there's a policy not to report minor crimes occurring in Rock Creek Park.

Guandeque is supposed to be from Salvador, so your theory probably holds here too.

THE DISTRICT

A Northwest Washington man faces up to 35 years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of assault on female joggers in Rock Creek Park, the U.S. attorney's office for the District said.

Ingmar Guandeque, 20, of the 1400 block of Somerset Place, admitted Friday in D.C. Superior Court that he pursued and grabbed the runners in the early evening of May 14 and July 1 in unsuccessful efforts to steal their Sony Walkman radios. The victims said the attacker brandished a knife.

Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 11.

I was being facetious. You've done a fine job over the years and I appreciate the work you've done.

I found it odd that the DOJ had a press release about a relatively "low-level" crime. Is the Rock Creek Park a fed. park? If not, why the press release from the DOJ?
