Logically speaking, if abortion is forced on the unwashed masses...instead of being a "choice"...then it should be in the political arena.
Our society is amoral not because of abortions (which have always been a part of our society) - but because we have been conditioned to be faithful to our politicians and politics - instead of trusting in God.
People like you - want to trust politicians to make moral changes that they will never be able to make...because those moral changes can't be legislated, those moral changes begin in the heart, and those moral changes are placed there through grace.
I certainly don't trust politicians to do anything at all. However, politicians will make moral choices when moral people force them to do so (in a democracy, such as ours). I agree with you in that we do live in an amoral society because people have turned away from God. But it is incumbent on those who have not turned away from God to vote in such as way as to reflect moral choice, and to influence politicians to make moral choices. I believe in God. I believe that things like partial birth abortions are just pure baby-killing. To me, voting against an abomination like that is far more important than the tax rate or the state of the economy. It is the very least I can do to vote that way. Those who believe in God and that abortion is murder should not flinch from the fight to try to save babies. In the same way, many Christians of all stripes fought to end slavery, though the politicians in general at that time couldn't find the moral strength to do so.
This is as stupid a statement as has been made on an abortion thread as any I've seen. Are you Peter Singers sister?
In fact, it doesn't work so well that it has existed througout all of recorded history (read Thomas Sowell, for example) right down to the present day (e.g, Sudan).
