Its amazing how many people are in the ostrich mode. I have close friends, mostly female, who will turn the TV to another channel if they hear anything at all that has to do with terrorism or any type of violence. The worst part about all of this is I would be willing to bet they are not in the minority. Occasionally, I will do this myself. It's so easy to overload on information, sometimes you just have to take a break from it. I get updates on Fox & Friends before I go to work, and I figure if anything REALLY earth-shattering happens, like another terrorist attack in the US, they'll interrupt regular programming to tell me. But sometimes you just need to take a break and get some mindless entertainment.
I used to turn it off whenever I saw Clinton's face on the screen. Now, I turn it off whenever I see O'Reilly.
