Of course Condit should be the prime suspect, but now that Chandra's body has been found, there're going to be plenty of people coming out of the woodwork with "red herring" theories about a "serial killer"---we're seeing it right here on this thread. I'm getting the impression that much more than Gary Condit's reputation and freedom are at stake here. These days, in political terms, not only is it a constant struggle just to see what's right in front of you as George Orwell complained, but there's a whole industry of people out there trying to convince the general public to discount the obvious. As Groucho Marx once said, "Who you gonna believe, me or your own eyes?"
I am praying they have a metal detector and find the wristwatch and connect it to the box Condit got rid of, then we would have a motive for him throwing the watch box away like he did.
He wanted to get rid of that box awfully bad, so she must have had it on when she died, and HE KNEW she was dead.
