To the contrary--many serial killers DO go to great extremes to get rid of the body and messing with the body can become as important a ritual as the killing or victim selection itself. That is why when a serial killer is finally found, there is always speculation that there were more victims that they didn't find. Look at Dahmer and John Wayne Gacy. Sometimes body disposal is the "signature" of the killer.

Way too much strange behavior on the part of Gary Condit on the day that Chandra disappeared for this to be an anonymous serial killer. Changing stories, a "visit" to the doctor that was never confirmed, away from the office during the late afternoon hours. Hopefully the cops have been doing a Robert Blake on Condit for the past year and have been quietly collecting the evidence (such as interviewing Condit's doctor).
