Well, there should be no problem then. The Garand is just an old, used gun. It may be described as many things, but never as "new"! ;-) You must realize that it is your patriotic duty to remove at least one of said rifles (Rifle, U.S., Caliber .30, M1) from the possession of the United States government. :^)
In the meantime, do you have a bolt-action military rifle, such as a Mauser, Mosin-Nagant or Enfield? Perhaps we could do an "old battle rifle" match, apart from a Garand-specific match. I think that many more people have an old bolt gun hanging around the house. A range down in southwest Mississippi has been hosting bolt-action battle rifle matches for a few years now and the format seems very popular. The winning scores often come from the ugliest rifles on the firing line, too. It is always interesting to see what kind of hardware turns up at the range.
