a Cuban refugee kid who came here 6 years ago speaking no English. Now, he will be going to Harvard. It proves what can happen to capable people when they are allowed to prosper in freedom. But how can this be? I thought the shiftless, lazy, Spanish speakers were taking over our country and ruining it for the "real" Americans? /sarcasm

¡¡¡VIVA CUBA LIBRE!!!!
Big Bump for an inspiring post. It was a wonderful speech from the President, and I was very impressed by Gov. Bush too. Hearing the President speak twice today I feel like it is a total antidote for the Carter debacle.
¡LIBERTAD!

I've seen the POTUS twice to date. Andrew did a great job putting his experience into words. I think it's kewl that he's already a conservative at 15!
I have great memories of both times I saw Dubya and his entourage first, one week before the election (outside of Bucs Stadium with Bo Derek guys) and second, last June at a Tax Relief Rally. The Tax Relief Rally was the first time I saw Jeb. He's a little taller than Dubya. I'd say there were already big security concerns last June and it was really HOT.
Big Redd, I hope you get to see the current Prez George W. Bush sometime, or the future Prez, John Ellis Bush, Governor of the State of Florida! You will be herded a little bit, on your feet alot but you won't care. IT'S WORTH THE WAIT!

BTW, your recount of the excitement in the crowd brought tears to my eyes.

I was so busy bothering hillary and working to defeat her that I never had time to go see Bush, although he gave up on the NY electorate early. He still did come a few times but it was tiring to make the time. Will be my upmost pleasure to see our President in person when the time arrives.

Your well written account of President Bush's visit made me feel as though I was there too! Thank you for sharing your exciting story.
To: walrus954
Neat! Thanks much for telling us about this. I liked what Bush said - and thanks to you, I like the way he said it.
¡Viva Cuba Libre! ¡Viva Presidente Bush!

Ping and bttt. You, go, Andrew!

I listened to a talk radio program in Houston this afternoon. The host said that GWB's speech wiped out whatever Carter thought he was going to accomplish by his intrusive visit.
In this speech today, Bush made Carter look utterly foolish and irrelevant. Of course, most of us already knew that, but it's nice for Bush to remind everyone....

A day for you to remember young Freeper.
Great report!
