Thats not true. He mentioned several Cuban freedom fighters with their names. He should have mentioned Elian. He should have also replaced the word Cuba with China in his speech.

And that would have impressed his largely Cuban-American audience -- how?

Get a grip. He is masterfully following the basics of public speaking, playing to his audience. More power to him. Perhaps he will give a similar speech to the Taiwanese. That would be an appropriate time to insert "China" into his speech.
