British Jews brace for possible outbreak of suicide bombings

LONDON - British Jews recently began an organized effort to prepare for a possible outbreak of suicide terrorism, but those involved decided to keep the effort under wraps to avoid causing panic.

On Wednesday Jewish activists and rabbis will meet with the Israeli group Zaka - the Haredi Rescue and Recovery voluntary organization - to discuss Jewish law procedures for evacuating the bodies of terrorist victims. Zaka is preparing a seminar to train volunteers to evacuate and identify victims of terror attacks, based on experience and lessons learned in Israel.

The course begins in June and dozens of volunteers have indicated an interest in registering for it. Experience accumulated in Britain during incidents such as the 1988 Pan Am Flight 103 disaster at Lockerbie will be reviewed.

But the Jewish community is not alone in believing it is just a matter of time until a mass suicide attack reaches Britain. British security sources say Scotland Yard and intelligence experts are worried that the suicide terrorist phenomenon could soon arrive in Britain, and local security forces lack the know-how or means to counter such a threat.

This assessment was reinforced several months ago when a senior delegation from Scotland Yard visited Sri Lanka and Israel to study how both countries deal with suicide attacks. The British visitors got an unequivocal message - suicide bombings will increase in the coming years, and not just by radical Islamic groups, but by militant secular organizations seeking to spread terrorism.

Israeli security officials briefed Barbara Wilding, who led the Scotland Yard delegation, on how the suicide tactic has gradually spread in the Middle East. A source knowledgeable about British security forces told Ha'aretz: "The use of suicide bombers has become a ritual that crosses borders and organizations, and is regarded as an efficient response to the intelligence, military, and technological superiority of the security services in the West. In the Middle East, we've seen how the use of this weapon has been developed and improved by Hezbollah in Lebanon, and then copied by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad and Hamas, and lately moved over to secular organizations like Fatah or the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). Now these organizations recruit men and women alike for these operations."

According to this source "suicide attacks are regarded today in Britain and among other security services in Europe as a general threat, because the concept of martyrdom could also take hold among extreme Christian right-wing organizations, and there are already some signs of this in the United States. The concern is that Europe might be the next target for these types of attack."

Scotland Yard has formed a special committee led by Wilding, the head of security at Scotland Yard, to handle the threat of suicide terrorism. Relying on lessons drawn from the experiences of security services in Israel, the U.S. and Asia, this team is devising preventive procedures.

The Sunday Times reported last week that the task force is studying how to deploy snipers against suicide bombers and has asked the Home Office to design robots like those used in Israel to detect and disarm explosives. But some security experts are saying these efforts are "too little, too late."

Pro-Palestinian activists have received logistic and financial support from left-wing organizations, as well as encouragement from some Labor Party MPs, including George Galloway, who is married to a Palestinian, and Jeremy Corbyn. At a discussion at the University of London's School of Oriental and African Studies on May 2, Galloway was reported as saying: "The suicide bombers are freedom fighters, not terrorists. I salute all of the fighters and all of the martyrs of Palestine ... Children throwing stones and becoming suicide bombers are heroes ... we must support the PLO and assist them in wiping out the Zionist entity."

Galloway's alleged comments apparently contravene British laws against incitement and promotion of terrorist attacks. Ha'aretz contacted Galloway for a reaction, but he was unavailable by press time.

As reported in Sunday's Ha'aretz, a week ago 20 pro-Palestinian leftists tried to storm the Israeli embassy in London. Embassy guards, reinforced by British police, repulsed these protesters. News of the attack was suppressed from the media for a week - again to avoid alarming Britain's Jewish community.

Yeah. I'm sure you're right. After all, the other bombings were all logical and reasonable, right?

I believe the US citizen is so mad, a suicide bomber middle-easterner would provoke a nasty, nasty attack by the masses. I'd hate to be an Arab in the US if and when that happens.

Wonder how much of this kind of news is being supressed here.

From what I've been told, a lot. Some Jewish organizations in the U.S. are of the opinion that they should keep a lot of anti-semitic attacks quiet so that more people aren't inspired to attack.

Later, after seeing the tape of the show, the principle of the school made the students "correct" their statements, and it was very unconvincing listening to them finally condemn the suicide attacts.

They cannot afford to be exposed for what they are until they have infiltrated in sufficient numbers. This is their MO, and they are running the game plan here.

she should ask G-d instead of Uncle Sam.

She does, and God tells US to give them the money.

The primary function of a nation's government is to ensure the security of it's borders and the safety of it's people. When a government has failed in this role, it's legitimacy is open to question.

We see here the simple truth that the barbarians have been allowed within the gates. Anyone foolish enough to commit such stupidity can not complain when one day the barbarians decide to rip them apart.

The U.S. has similiar failings, to be sure. The question is, what are we civilized people going to do about it? Continue listening to the politically-correct mewlings of the left, or wake up and recover the situation?

Very well said.

Every American has a duty to:

1) Arm him/herself in the event that their services will be required and to protect their family and neighbors.

2) Petition the Government relentlessly to secure our safety.

3) Support candidates for office who will place the protection of US citizens as their TOP priority. Bring down any politican who stands in the way.

4) Express these sentiments to anyone who will listen. Tell ten people to tell ten people, etc.

Walk-in suicide bombers like those who have attacked public places in Israel will hit the United States eventually, FBI Director Robert Mueller said Monday.

``I think we will see that in the future, I think it's inevitable,''

Mueller said the degree of fanaticism an informant must exhibit to get into the inner circle of a terrorist group makes it difficult for law enforcement agencies to penetrate such organizations and prevent such attacks.

Profile them. Arrest them. Deport them. Throw them in jail. Start now.

Issue a Glock model 22 to every American who wants one. Provide training as necessary.

Keep killing them until they stand down.

Tell the fascist leftists in this country and Europe to f*ck off.

Go after the hives (Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Syria, Iran, Iraq, etc.). One after another. They either stop sponsoring this BS or we invade an conquer them.

Where the hell did that swipe at the right wing come from? It's like brushing their teeth right after rolling out of bed, they do it everyday.

Ain't that the truth. They are incorrigible, can't help themselves.

With a good number of Muslims, you have to remember that we're not dealing with just another popular world religion, we're dealing with cult behavior that is more fervent and destructive than Jim Jones or Heaven's Gate

Yes.

This is proving to be a very difficult concept for many to grasp, especially our "servants" in the government.

Same as it ever was. The Left/Pali connection. What more do you need to know?

Who was the journalist who said, after 9-11, "One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter"? I think is was someone from Reuters to justify their "terms of art" in reporting on these events.

For the left, anything that serves to destroy democratic government is OK with them. Palis, OBL, whatever. If these modern "journalists" had been reporting during WWII, Hitler would have been portrayed as a misunderstood freedom-fighter. This is nauseating.

They'll be more than just de-legitimized, they'll be dead because Americans will be so out-raged that they will take the law into their own hands. The basic task of govt is to protect it's citizens. Such an event will be viewed as a massive failure of govt. and the citizenery will deem it necessary to protect itself. Every mosque will be burned to the ground and every diaper-head seen in public will probably be shot on sight regardless of innocence or guilt. I suspect this was one of the biggest fears govt. had after 9/11 and thats why Bush had to call it a "religion of peace" in hopes of preventing a horrendous uprising....yeah, right. Soooo...if they wanna play rough on American soil...bring it on, it won't be the first time.

Yes. There is no doubt that the Government wants to prevent this scenario. I am surprised, however, that the American Muslim community -- if they are in fact Americans in the essence and not infiltrators -- have done little to communicate to the rest of America that they stand with us. They either do not realize the precarious position that they may face, or they are in fact insurgents, biding their time. Would not want to be them when the feces hits the fan.

I might add, that Americans have a different sensibility (than, for example, the Euro's) when it comes to fair play. We despise sneaky, devious, evil people, and we will rise up and CRUSH them (after we have been sufficiently aroused).

One thing the Euro's do not have is literally millions of handguns and other weapons. The population of the USA is an army in reserve. Thank God for the foresight of our Founders.

"A pro-Palestinian protester, with a fake explosives belt, demonstrating near London's Trafalgar Square."

Protesters? Demonstrators? I don't think so. Whether it be in London, France, or America, the moment these loons dropped the signs and strapped (fake) explosives on is the moment their little get-together turned into "Threats" upon a person/persons lives. JMHO: I am a peaceful person, I would never want to harm a soul, but I agree with many when they say "If our government cannot protect us from these Islamic Extremists", we will do it ourselves, myself and family included. I can only pray it will never come to that.

I wondered where this came from too. I also wonder who the heck they're talking about. Have we seen any Christian suicide bombers anywhere in the U.S.? If they are referring to Waco, we all know that wasn't suicide. Sane Christians don't commit suicide. Not kosher.

Good grief!

I am becoming more convinced over time that we are witnessing a significant resurgence of violent Islamism. And from what I have read, this is the only kind of Islam being taught these days. Their focus on violence, to me, de-legitimizes their faith, making it a cult rather than a religion, followed first by the ignorant, and next by those who desire to control the ignorant.

Now, I don't besmerch anyone for their religious beliefs, except when these beliefs call for immoral acts by followers. And of course we have been treated to an unending stream of violent acts by "Muslims" for years now. A pattern is developing, worldwide. Seems to me that, if there are Muslim faithful who desire to live in peace with their neighbors, now would be a good time to hear this, and perhaps to bring about a reformation.

Who are writting these intel reports?
I thin,k that shootings of occupants of Jewish schools, synagogues, communities, etc are far more likely.

These were the ogiional MO of the Palestinain Terrorists. It only stopped when Israelis started to arm themselves.
In the UK only criminals and polioce have guns. Do you really think that Bobby Peal's boys are prepared to deal with AK-47 carryiong terrorist shooting up schools and holding kids hostage? (for that matter, are New York LA and Boston?) This is way beyond anything the IRA has done.
Only when this plan stops working will there be an escalation to suicide attacks.
