I've seen a number of drug legalization advocates on FR who oppose such an approach by claiming that driving is safer while stoned on marijuana.
You and yours are sure a schizphrenic lot. On one hand, libertarians are so wacky that they are insignificant, yet on the other hand, you spend a lot of time opposing and fearing libertarian influence.
Dedicating so much of your lives to the insignificant makes your lives even less significant, doesn't it?
Being stoned is their norm. They don't know what it means to be sober.
It's safer than driving drunk. Alcohol depresses one's sense of things going on around them, marijuana increases one's awareness of these things and may cause a driver to drive say, 55 instead of 65. Still reason for a ticket but it beats wrapping around a pole 'cause you never saw it.
I'm one of 'em (based on 25+ yrs of personal experience)... studies by the fedgov, the Canadian & UK governments, both recent and dating back as far as 30 years, don't agree with me though. They just found that drivers under the influence of 'weed' are statistically no more accident-prone than the general driving population.
I'm sure these studies don't carry much weight with you and the rest of the 'all I need to know about marijuana I learned by watching Reefer Madness' crowd.
