Just wait until the Native Americans decide they want to be paid because we "took their country away from them." That's worse than slavery. Hang on....the ride's gonna be expensive. The "something for nothing" lawyers are coming after our assets. Why? You ask....because that's what blood suckers do.

"The slave registry has provided ammo to private litigants who are suing companies for damages."

One has to wonder if this is not a violation of protection under the 5th. Amendment. If one (person or corporation) is compelled to provide testimony against itself, would not this same testimony be excluded in suits regarding, so called, "reparations" ?

I grow so tired of the lawyer bashing.
Everybody knows it's only 99% of the lawyers that give the rest a bad name.

Of course, this proposed suit is just Leftist propaganda. There is no way that you can sue someone for damages you claim happened 137+ years ago. The legal argument is a big joke.

The only reason that we suddenly have "slavery" as an issue in America again, is that the Left sees it as the way to further tear us apart. The issue will go away, fairly fast, I suspect, if Conservatives take a tough and unapologetic tack. If, on the other hand, they fall all over themselves apologizing for history; you can expect that this idiotic foray will be followed by ones of similar "logic," one after another, ad nauseum.

Incidentally, I dealt with one aspect of this new (spontaneous, of course) focus on slavery in The Big Truth.

This would all be funny, if we still had a journalistic media in America with the analytic abilities of a bright fifth grader. But those days are long gone.

I do not understand how this is a case that could be won in the courts..This is politics all the way

BTW I have NO problem giving every African American a 1/4 of a mil...or even 1/2 a mil...as long as there is a contract that they, and future generations will not claim any future government "benefits" for 100 years.

Davis and the Leftists are too much!

Have you seen Registered's latest work regarding Tom Daschle?

Might stimulate new graphic ideas for our Governor.

WANTED FOR MOLESTATION!!!!

"And it still wouldn't be enough to wipe the slate clean."

No it won't.

There is still the issue of the enabling complicity of West African nations that sold their own to European and Middle East slave traders. Black slavery could not have existed without the assistance of African tribes selling to whites their prisoners from tribal wars.

Think about it! It would be physically impossible to overwhelm African tribes from land or sea. Africans far outnumbered any white invader. Will reparations be sought from these African nations, the first link in the chain of bondage?

Will the Reparations Contingent sue the European nations that initiated the slave trade in the New world? Will Tony Blair be served? Will the Netherlands? Will Spain?

I am not, in any way, defending anything about slavery. It is this country's "Original Sin". But there are unindicted co-conspirators, that if left out of the "reparations" equation will render the sought for justice, criminally incomplete.

Does no one mention the fact that slavery was LEGAL in this country at one time?? Of course reprehensible, but nevertheless, reparations should not be made on the basis that the practice was indeed legal at the time.

And then, of course, there is the argument that no one alive was harmed by slavery unless you can prove that because your ancestors were harmed, that therefore, opportunities did not realize for you.

This latter argument rings hollow, of course. Can I sue the living family members of someone who damaged my own family in the distant past? Of course not!

Davis should be impeached on this decision alone.

...provide information on any slave policies they or predecessor companies had issued.

Someday, hopefully, it maybe considered a felony to have been associated with the Perjury Party. At that point, we can hunt down those criminals...

Has anyone axed - "HOW MUCH DO THESE PEOPLE WANT?"

Love the graphic! Gray Davis's mental condition should be a campaign issue. Truly one of Mikey Moore's stupid white guys.

as well as groups that champion reparations to African Americans, supports payment of damages to--groups that champion African Americans.

Well this should tell you what this is all about. Is Jesse Jackson's Rainbow Coalition getting a big short on cash lately?
