The key to resolving the dilemma is to increase the limit for legal immigrants and crack down and deport illegal immigrants in this country. What the GOP should do is make is clear we welcome people who want to come lawfully to this country to make it stronger and more prosperous. By the same token the GOP should make it also clear there will be NO amnesty for illegal aliens, no government loans, grants, or services for those who have no right to be in this country in the first place and if you're here illegally and are caught, upon deportation its a lifetime ban on reentering the United States. Call it a friendly welcome policy for legal immigration coupled with a one strike and you're out policy for illegal aliens. The GOP has the answer to its dilemma. The question is whether its willing to do the commonsensical approach outlined here or keep pandering to lawbreakers. Whether the GOP has a chance to keep and even expand its majority in the future depends on how it responds to Americans on this issue.

I can see your point, but at the same time, kicking out 10-15 million illegals is going to be a logistical nightmare. Plus, there's all the crap CNN will pull. I'd like to see some of the folks who want such a crackdown tell me CNN and the major networks wouldn't make it look one step removed from a concentration camp.

Plus, say what you will about his lifestyle, but Dick Morris's track record speaks volumes as well.

Enforcing the law need not be seen as anti-Hispanic. But it would take some people who are at least competent at playing politics to accomplish. Right now, the people running the show for the G.O.P. are laughably inept.
