Years ago, I tried to enroll my daughter in an excellent local Christian high school. My son had attended several Christian schools over the years, so I knew they had their own standards and rules of admission. The high school required that both parents attend the Sunday services, and we could not do that since my husband's business kept him working offshore on most Sundays with nobody to cover for him. The school would not relent on this issue, and it never entered my mind to sue them or make a big deal of it, I figured that we simply didn't meet the requirements, and unless we wanted to give up our business, my husband wouldn't be able to attend church, end of story. So we passed, and found another private school. It was our choice that we didn't meet the criteria for the school, not the school's fault. No matter how petty I thought their rules were, they were entitled to enforce them.

You know, this does bring to mind all those arguments against School Vouchers.

I do agree with you on that point. Private schools have the right to set their own standards for students, no matter how petty, arbitrary, and hypocritcaln those standards are. Still, I think the school should have allowed the girl to finish the school year, considering she herself has done nothing wrong.
