if i were the headmaster of this school, i would have offered the woman a job at the school as well as free tuition.

Let me see if I've got this straight; this woman isn't good enough to have her child go to school there, but she is good enough to work there herself?

at my kids school, stay at home moms are always easing their way back into the workforce with jobs as aides, some of them go back to school for teaching degrees etc. They work in the office, some moms work as the school nurses.

But are any of those women former strippers?

i would work as a cleaning lady cleaning toilets, and maybe several shifts per day, so that i could send my kids to school somewhere that would reinforce my values, and it is MY VALUES not my PRIDE that would have me NOT STRIPPING for a living.

This little girl is in kindergarten. What, pray tell, would you do with a child this young while you're working around the clock? Consider, this child is probably in school for four hours at a time. Meanwhile you're working around harsh chemicals and heavy equipment (such as floor buffers, clothes press, etc) in a job that offers barely more than minimum wage with no benefits and no childcare. Who is going to take care of your child while you're working and she's not in school? How can you be a mother to her when the only time you have together is the only time you have to sleep?

And BTW, God bless you for thinking you could actually afford to live AND send your child to private school on the money you would make as a cleaning woman.

yes, you DO have it correct. Were she to quit stripping she would be perfectly acceptable. Love the sinner, hate the sin. I am sure she is a lovely woman, she just needs to quit that job.

i can see we are never going to agree here, because i happen to think it is not necessary to strip for a single mom to earn a living. i know many single moms, don't know any who strip. so sorry, we will just have to agree to disagree.

my point about the cleaning lady job was just to take the most disagreeable job imaginable (and i HAVE a cleaning lady, because i find cleaning so disagreeable!)and say i would do whatever it took, in a LEGITIMATE realm, in order to educate my child. and perhaps it is unrealistic to think private education is possible (though, my kids catholic school does offer assistance to those who cannot afford the tuition) but public education supplemented by PARENTAL instruction in morals and values, would do just fine also. not everyone is as blessed as i am, to be able to send my kids to a private, religious school (and that is why i am a HUGE FAN of vouchers), but dang it, public school accompanied by strong moral instruction provided by a parent, is preferable to stripping to pay the christian school bill.

The cleaning wo/men I know make pretty good money here; more than I do, actually, and I've been here 24 years! Cleaning women (and men) make over $12 an hour doing private cleaning jobs in homes, and probably more than that in post offices and other businesses. So, don't put down cleaning jobs. They can be very good sources of money.
