Three civilians and a Special Police Officer (SPO) were killed by the terrorists in Doda and Poonch districts late last night. One of the civilians was brutally beheaded and the terrorists also took away his head while fleeing.
Official sources said the terrorists struck at village Sarawa, about 35 kilometers from Kishtwar in Doda district last night. While three terrorists waited outside the village, reportedly to keep a vigil on the security forces and Village Defence Committee (VDC) personnel, two others forced their entry into the house of Shamas Din.
They gunned down Shamas Din’s 28 year old son Hasham Din and fled away from the village.
Sources said the terrorists had been asking Hasham Din to join Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit but he had outrightly rejected the offer. They suspected hand of the LeT terrorists behind the killing of Hasham Din.
Police parties visited Sarawa this morning for on spot investigations. Police with help of the VDC members have started a search operation in Sarawa for the terrorists. No arrests had, however, been made so far.
In another incident, the terrorists shot dead a SPO in his house at Tabood near Barshana village under Marwah police station’s jurisdiction in Doda early today.
The SPO Girdhari Lal (No. 2591), posted at SPOs picket at Pinjri Khala, Barshana had gone to his house on leave. Two terrorists appeared in the house at 0445 hours today, dragged out Girdhari Lal and pumped a volley of shots on him with an automatic weapon from point blank range, the sources said.
Girdhari Lal died on spot while the terrorists escaped.
Body of the SPO was handed over to his family today after post-mortem and was cremated this evening. Police have registered a case in the killing.
Three terrorists snatched a licensed 12 bore gun from Abdul Gani son of Abdul Rashid Khanday in his house at Balwra, Doda last night. The terrorists left the house without causing any harm to the inmates.
Our Poonch correspondent adds: A civilian Abdul Ghani son of Hassan Mohd, a Chowkidar at village Salwa, Mendhar tehsil of Poonch district was kidnapped by the terrorists from his house at 2300 hours last night. The terrorists whisked away the Chowkidar to a distance of about half a kilometer where they beheaded him, the sources said.
They said the terrorists also took away the head of 46-year old Abdul Ghani with them. Headless body of the Chowkidar was recovered from the village this morning.
No reasons could be ascertained behind the killing.
Yet another civilian Mohd Shaffi, 50, son of Dara was shot dead by the terrorists after being kidnapped from the house at village Dondi in Surankote tehsil of Poonch last night. Body of Shaffi was recovered from near his house this morning.
Meanwhile, Loran police today busted a hideout of the terrorists at village Naga Nari in Loran area and recovered one Pika gun, 10 RPG shells, 10 boosters, three magazines and 1000 rounds of Pika gun.
Police party, which busted the hideout, was led by SHO Loran Surjit Singh. However, no arrests could be made from the hideout.
Carry it around like a terrorist lucky charm, i guess.
