FYI, FWIW, little reported factoid last week...the program director or WOR radio resigned last week, to "pursue other interests"..less than one year into a multi year contract..This is curious, and important, because it happened shortly after the "payola" story broke....and WOR was very important to O'Reilly's program getting started, because since WABC in NY carries RUSH and Sean Hannity, he wasn't getting on the air their, and there is really no other "big signal" talk station in NYC...also, the WOR program director ( I can't recall his name), used to work at the NY Post..which is owned by Murdoch, who also own Fox, so it's not hard to surmise that O'Reilly and the former program director knew each other....and connecting the dots gets very interesting..

The "No-Spin" part is when Bill says "I'll give you the last word" ten seconds before the end of the segment.

True O'Reilly does get a little ego-driven and is hyping his 15-minutes for everything he can - but, we don't find the A-1 perfect personality very often - yet we need all the help we can get.

Rush has had ego problems in his rise to fame also yet look what he has contributed over the years.

O'Reilly should be informed of these irritating characteristics by those who work with him if he is unable to realize them himself. It also bugs me he comes across as overly assertive that his view is better than any others. Sean handles opposing views a lot better than O'Reilly as Sean appears to be avidly exposing a liberal view rather than promoting his own view as the correct view.

O'Rielly is great, Drudge is great, and Rush is great. And we all know it.

And I thought I was the only one who barfed at his sh-- eating grin! These ersatz conservatives eventually show their true colors and they inevitably are RED!!I saw Sean Connity show his true feeling when he interviewed David Duke and when he interviewed Al Blubber Sharpton.he almost fell off his chair trying to kiss Fat Al's rump.

Some of BOR's direct, no nonsense work is good.

The majority of his work is based on his assertion being the best and only correct one. Boring self righteous liberal nonsense.

He lost me permanently when he came out for reparations.

The man is an egotistical loon. He will not last 6 months on radio. He does not have the talent that lies in RL's cigar ashes. He is not as good as Sean Hannity.

Thin skinned and boring, what a compelling combination.

That was a cheap shot at PH.

You might be interesred to know Paul Harvey was kicked out of the military in WWII, with a less than honorable discharge, for refusing to be deployed overseas. Little known fact that has been buried big time ... but true. Coward is the word that comes to mind. It wasn't until the 50's that PH began a comeback in his radio career.

There's a little of the pot calling the kettle black. While I am unaware of Rush paying to be played, I do know that initially to clearance in NYC, the deal was talent in exchange for air time. A little different than pay to play, but still very similar.

Also very early on, there were many small stations that considered dumping Rush before he hit his stride. He worked the phones to keep them on. In some cases virtually begging and pleading not to have the show yanked. Any loss would have hurt terribly. Some of these smaller stations were terribly miffed when Rush's popularity began to zoom and he dumped them for larger signals.

I know, marketplace dynamics, but there is something also to be said about loyality, especially when some of those smaller stations by hanging in there with hime like was the differnece between Rush being where he is today or just another footnote like Cuomo in talk radio. Those 30 or so small stations could have sank his boat if they had given up and pulled the plug early on.

I'm not doubting the veracity of the story but where might I find documentation? Has he ever addressed the issue? Was it a CO kind of thing?

Many have a problem in this department: Rush Limbaugh, Pat Robertson, LBJ, Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, Dan Quayle (by his own admission), my uncle, etc. Quite frankly, if it was 1968 and I just received my draft notice and knew what I know now, I would not have fought LBJ's War. One thing is certain, I would not have tried to have my cake and eat it too, as in x42.
