They have watered down THE SCOUT HANDBOOK, lessened the requirements and have been more PC.

How?

Get a 20 yr. old book and a new one then compare the two. There are too many things to list.

Indulge me, list a couple “lessened requirements.” To my knowledge there are actually more now than 20-30 years ago. I’m not saying the books don’t change over the years, but the requirements haven’t lessened to any real degree. I’ll concede the PC thing has infiltrated to a certain degree, mainly for legal reasons, call-out ceremonies will never approach what tap-out ceremonies were when I went through them.

Is This Gay Behavior Sick?

"Let´s look at gay behavior as defined by two gays, Marshall Kirk and Hunter Madsen Ph.D., authors of After the Ball: How America will Conquer its Fear and Hatred of Gays in the 90´s (1989).

In Chapter Six, they outline “ten categories of misbehavior,” drawn from their own experiences, wide reading and thousands of hours of conversation with hundreds of other gays...

What follows are some highlights. As you read this, ask yourself if there is another human community, including the Mafia that could make these generalizations about itself. Ask yourself if we haven´t caught this disease, or at least the sniffles.

• The authors say “a surprisingly high percentage” of pathological liars and con men are gay. This results from a natural habit of self-concealment, and leads to a stubborn self-deception about one´s own gayness and its implications.

• They say gays suffer from a “narcissistic” personality disorder and they give this clinical description: “pathological self absorption, a need for constant attention and admiration, lack of empathy or concern for others, quickly bored, shallow, interested in fads, seductive, overemphasis on appearance, superficially charming, promiscuous, exploitative, preoccupied with remaining youthful, relationships alternate between over idealization and devaluation.”

• As an example of this narcissism, the authors say “a very sizable proportion of gay men” who have been diagnosed HIV positive continue to have unprotected sex.

• They say the majority of gays are extremely promiscuous and self-indulgent. They must continuously up the ante to achieve arousal. This begins with alcohol and drugs and includes such “forbidden” aspects of sex as wallowing in filth (fetishism and coprophilia) and sadomasochism, which involves violence.

• They say many gays indulge in sex in public bathrooms and think it is antigay harassment when it is stopped. Many think they have a right to importune straight males, including children.

• Many gays are “single minded sexual predators” fixated on youth and physical beauty alone. When it comes to the old or ugly, gays are “the real queerbashers.” Disillusioned themselves, they are cynical about love.

• “Relationships between gay men don´t usually last very long.” They quickly tire of their partners and fall victim to temptation. The “cheating ratio of ‘married´ gay males, given enough time, approaches 100%.”..."

Hawai'i Citizens for the Separation of State and Church

And it looks like this organization is not much better. They just don't focus on the homosexual agenda quite as openly.

I will not be forced to say "gay is okay",

Fight back! Drop the "Gay" term and call them what they are! It's just a few extra syllables to say Homosexual or better yet use the new term to describe their illness, SAD, Same-Sex Attraction Disorder.

Well said kapn! In addition to that, a friend inspired me and others to take back the language. Use the word gay, queer and other words as they were originally intended. This confuses the leftists and it gives you an opportunity to set the record straight with those around you on the disorder these people have.

Does "Scouting for All" do anything other than try to shut down the Boy Scouts?

Scouting for All's stated aim is to convince the BSA to allow homosexual members. They don't view that as resulting in the shutdown of the BSA and want the program to continue with that change.

Are any parents crazy enough to let their son go camping with a known homo?

There are numerous chartering organizations that would, if allowed by National, accept homosexual leaders. The Universalist Unitarians, the PTA's in Oak Park, Ill. that refused to renew the charters for 7 Cub Scout Packs on this basis, etc. It should be noted that if a unit operates in accordance with the BSA's youth protection requirements, the boys would be in no physical danger. What you would think of the moral danger they would be placed in is another issue.

The national BSA should prohibit any troop from meeting in public (government) schools. All Troops should affiliate themselves with churches. This would end the political correct Nazis from corrupting the Boy Scouts.

National Council will never do this, as it would leave about 45-50% of Scouts in units with no sponsors. Almost half of Scouts are sponsored by secular entities; Public Schools, PTA/PTO's, Elks Clubs, IOOF Lodges, Moose Lodges, Lions Clubs, VFW Posts, American Legion Posts, etc.

It would also not have the effect you desire. Take a look at the organizations signing amicus curiae briefs in support of James Dale in the Dale vs. Monmouth County Council, BSA Supreme Court case. There are plenty of churches and religious groups there.

When I was in Scouting (1960's & 1970's) all the troops I knew of were church affiliated. I have never heard of a troop meeting at a school.

When I was a youth in Scouting during the same time period, my Troop was sponsored by what was essentially a group of concerned citizens, and we met in a public school. As stated above, secular sponsorship is very common.

I disagree entirely with this. The youth protection requirements require that two adults be with kids at all times. What happens when two homosexuals are with kids? And further, having been involved in Boy Scouts for a long time, I can attest that while efforts are always made to comply with this, in practice, there are times when difficult situations cause this rule to be broken. As just one example, at a beach campout, there is one bathhouse. Kids go there to get changed and to shower. One isn't going to send two adults with them to watch them change or shower. The adults also have to change and shower, but they go one at a time, since need the others to be with the kids. I certainly don't want a homosexual man showering with my sons. As for the moral danger - I don't want a homosexual man talking about homosexual sex around my kids. I don't want him talking about the men that he likes to look at at the beach (or elsewhere). I don't want him to answer kids (inevitable) questions about things like anal and oral sex between men - or about the promiscuous gay lifestyle. And I don't want my teenage sons to be the object of any man's sexual attraction, be it realized or not.

You mean, like Jesse Dirkhising?

Why, two gay men alone with a thirteen year-old boy (prime Boy Scout age) is just the safest scenario one could imagine. < / saracasm>

Not true, pedophiles find situations were they can secretly get around the two-deep requirements, not to mention plenty of legitimate situations where two-deep doesn’t work at all.

there are times when difficult situations cause this rule to be broken.

One leader dropping off kids at the end of a campout, how do you drop off the last kid? Only two leaders on a campout and someone gets hurt and has to go to the hospital, there aren’t enough vehicles for all the kids to go with because parent drivers didn’t spend the night. Merit badge councilors routinely meet/see scouts alone.

Disband the DOE!

That was something that we thought we were going to achieve in the Reagan victory. Somehow, the objective got lost. Now, no one in Washington seems willing to even consider it. But the Constitution remains empty of any clause that would possibly authorize a Federal role in local education.

Meanwhile, the Boy Scouts remain a target for Leftwing activists. (See The Boy Scouts & A Leftwing Agenda.)

Incidently, the Founding Fathers never intended to interfere with any State's promoting a simple faith in God. Indeed, Jefferson's Act establishing religious freedom in Virginia, specifically acknowledges the Creator in numerous clauses. The point is not even debatable among the intellectually honest.
