While the leaders of countries know the Saudi position, the peoples in the Middle East (and Americans and Europeans also) don't know the exact views. I hope it was understood in Arabic as it is written in English.
For an Arab leader, this is very revealing - sensible and matter of fact. They have been taking public relations lessons. If he would go the next step and make the outright statement that Israelis are human beings deserving of peace, prosperity and security, just as the Arab people are deserving of it, then real progress can be made.
The Arab position is exactly stated - an adherence to the United Nations resolutions 240 and 338 - nothing more, nothing less. In the end, Israel will have to agree also, if it wants peace and security. It's a big step to trust the Arabs - and they probably will want US assurances (probably even peacekeepers on the border).
This is an opening negotiating position. The parties will have to work out the details. It will be painful for both sides - Israel likely will have to give up the settlements, and the Palis will have to give up the right of return.
