As much as I would love to see the DemocRats squirm, bottomline is that we the White people would still pay & quite frankly Slave Reparations shouldn't be paid by anybody or any organization. It's a bogus issue meant to give a free ride to people that won't work. ie The Rev. Jessee Jack@ss & Al Sharpton.

No, I'm not in favor of reparations either ... but if you ignore the issue on the assumption that it's only a fringe issue which will go nowhere while the media obediently does the racial arsonists' bidding, you'll find yourself paying reparations in a few years.

So the best thing is to shut it down ... and effectively. Sue the Democrats. The media and the "black leaders" would sour on the idea immediately and it definitely would halt right there.

File these lawsuits because they, through their elected officials, endangered your ancestor's lives by seceding from the Union.

I'm a Son of the Confederacy and I LOVE the idea!!!

Nah, holding someone resposonsible for something they didn't do - to someone who wasn't harmed - is wrong.

thanks for the ping

Instead of a lawsuit we should do something slightly different

In our country we need to systematically hold responsible the two leading parties for the things they do that are wrong. We should tell the people what the democrats have done and leave it at that.

The facts that every american should know about the politics of slavery/racism are as follows. The Democrat Party supported slavery very strongly before the civil war. The republican party was founded for the purpose of abolishing slavery. It may be true that republicans and democrats were equally likely pre civil war to engage in the ideology or idol of racism, but when it came to slavery as a political issue the democrats were 100% in favor while the republicans were 100% opposed to it. The civil war, costing 650,000 lives, the world's largest war up to its' time, was largely a war between republicans and democrats. The republicans won.

After the civil war the nation's first civil rights legislation protecting blacks was passed in 1868 by republicans.

The ku klux klan was started by democrats. Virtually 100% of members of ku klux klan in the first 25 years of the kkk's existence were democrats. Although it is true that in the 1920's the kkk reached its peak in membership and by then they had a very healthy republican contingent.

All of the Jim Crow laws were passed by democrats. I personally am under the impression that very few republicans even voted for that type of legislation.

Calvin Coolidge, the republican pres in 1920's, did publicly speak out against racism at the time and he did so in the deep south.

In the 1930's though the black people realized that the republicans were racists and so they started voting democrat in large numbers. The democrats promptly passed legislation that empowered the labor unions knowing full well that the labor unions were racist at the time. The labor unions took over many industries and wherever they took over in the 1930's they required an all white shop. Probably the largest trucking firm in the state of new york at the time was black owned and employed 98% black. It was run out of business by the unions.

In the early 1960's in 1 of the big civil rights votes 80% of republican senators voted for it while only 60% of dem senators did. In the house it was much more lopsided in that less than 50% of dems voted for it and republicans actually were the ones who turned the tide as a minority party working with a divided majority party.

Ronald Reagan was the son of relatively poor white people who literally taught him not to be a racist. Al Gore was the son of rich white people who set an opposite example.

The politician most known for campaigning against civil rights legislation during the 1960's and in favor of segregation in his state was George Wallace, a democrat. Who could forget George Wallace standing in the university of alabama's door to prevent black students from coming in as soldiers stood by and broadcast on tv across america? If you listened to Wallace' rhetoric in Alabama politics, then who could forget him bellowing 'Segreagation Now! Segreation Todeay!! And Segreation Tomorrow!!!" with so many white democrats cheering for him? Even after all that more black votes in alabama during wallace' entire 20 year career were cast for george wallace than against george wallace. Because everyone knows that republicans are racists.

Mein Godt! What a beautiful idea!!! If it comes around to that, of course.....

There seems to be a lot of people who forget that, up until late December of 1865, Slavery was LEGAL !

How can one sue someone for something that WAS NOT A CRIME?

It's such a simple solution....that I wonder why no one has voiced it in a column somewhere.

Let's hope there's a judge out there who can recognise this simple fact and throw these putzes out on their ears.

But still, suing the Democrats sounds Sweet, pard.....

I love this idea. Have you noticed how quiet most Democrats are on the subject of reparations?

TO ANY LAWYERS--I seem to remember at one time reading about a thing called "impleader" where a defendant can employ a "misery loves company" tack. Maybe I have the name wrong (conjoinment?), but basically when you are sued you can move to add other victims to the lawsuit's targets, whether the plaintiff likes it or not.

Let Aetna add Senator Byrd and Hollings to the list!!

Yes! Senator Byrd should be sued for using the "N" word and a myriad of offenses. Al Gore should be sued because his Dad was a bigot. The Democrap Party should be sued because George Wallace was one of their own. This is a great idea! Also, the Democrap Party was responsible for VIETNAM!!!!!!!!

"Usually, most Southern Democrats are more conservative than most Yankee Republicans."

Nobody who votes for Daschle as Senate Majority Leader or Gephardt for Speaker of the House can EVER call themselves conservative, IMHO.

FReegards...MUD

BTW...most of them Yankee Republicans are nuthin' but RINOs anyway.

This could actually work, because many of the affected are still alive.

Think of how many older blacks in Alabama could sue because of the segregation of the colleges.

As a conservative black (as opposed to a black conservative), I think that this should be pursued viciously. Throw the ball back into their court! The RAT party truly was the party of slavery, the Black Codes, and Jim Crow.

Anyone have ideas on how to actually go about this? This could be huge, AND will extinguish this reparation fire.
