It will be interesting to see what that new set-up (minus Arafat) will look like. I'm also wondering how much security the individual(s) are gonna need just to live through elections.

If al-Husseini is banished, I think that the commoners in arab nations would scream for blood (more so than they do already). That'll force their leadership to engage in a war they know to be a doomed effort from the start, but necessary in order to maintain power. The arab public drive for war would be even stronger if he was executed.

I believe war to be inevitable, but would simply occur sooner if al-Husseini is removed from power. A war now benefits Israel since procrastinating only allows the arabs to renovate their dilapidated militaries.

As Patrick Henry so eloquently stated:

The war is inevitable -- and let it come! I repeat it, sir, let it come.

It is in vain, sir, to extenuate the matter. Gentlemen may cry, Peace, Peace -- but there is no peace. The war is actually begun! The next gale that sweeps from the north will bring to our ears the clash of resounding arms! Our brethren are already in the field! Why stand we here idle? What is it that gentlemen wish? What would they have? Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God!
