Report: Dutch Anti-Immigrant Politician Fortuyn Killed
May 06, 2002 12:42 PM ETAMSTERDAM (Reuters) - Dutch anti-immigrant politician Pim Fortuyn appeared to have died after being shot Monday on leaving a radio interview, Dutch television reported.
Fortuyn was shot six times and suffered multiple wounds in the chest and neck, the television said.
Neither Dutch police nor Fortuyn's party were able to confirm the incident.

The Dutch right-wing politician Pim Fortuyn has been shot, say unconfirmed Dutch reports.Police say he has been gravely wounded; his spokesman said he was not likely to survive.
Mr Fortuyn is said to have been shot six times and to have suffered multlple wounds in the chest and neck.
He was attacked as he left a radio studio in the central Dutch city of Hilversum after giving an interview.
Mr Fortuyn leads the anti-immigration Lijst Fortuyn party, which made surprising gains in recent elections.
The party has been predicted to do well in the forthcoming general elections in nine days time, with polls giving him 15% of the vote.
Mr Fortuyn provoked public indignation by calling for the Netherlands' borders to be closed to foreigners and by describing Islam as a 'backward' religion.
