Yes, that makes sense. I wonder, however, if that view -- one that ties together so closely proper human sexuality with baby making, a view devised principally by those who do not make babies -- is what keeps so many American Catholics from sharing their faith's official beliefs on the subject.

Most Catholics practice contraception. Why? One reason is that most Catholics don't understand the reason for the Church's teaching, partly because the subject is rarely preached. Another reason is that Catholics can be selfish, just like everyone else. A new car or a new baby? Hmmm....

It's very sad when you think about it. Especially when you consider that God allows us to play a part in bringing eternal souls into the world. Or not. I wonder what He thinks of our excuses?
