What an interesting evening you had. We sit at a frightening crossroads in time, not only for Israel, but for the world. His analysis gives hope, don't you think? BTW, you are an excellent descriptive writer, OhioWFan!

He began with some light-hearted comments, including a joke about a Jew who was being fed to a very hungry lion by the Romans. Youll have to trust me that it was funny! I dont want to give away the punch line in case he uses it again. That was a wonderful article, and I'm going to e-mail to some friends. However, you violated Free Republic Rule #137, which prohibits posters from referring to a joke without actually telling it. As much as I would like to see Bibi, I'll probably never get to do so. Would you deprive a poor Freeper of a good joke?

Thanks for the ping.

Thank you so much for pinging me!! Thank you for sharing!! I'm glad someone got to enjoy it. I'm wondering if perhaps we'll be able to hear the audio of it through Townhall.com. Also, how is our beloved home state of Ohio?? I really miss the Midwest. Virginia is beautiful and lovely, but it's not the same as Ohio for me!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, OWF! How wonderful to read a real report instead of the drivel we might (or might not) get out of the so-called journalists in the lamestream media.
His answer of "the last one" (president) is a crack up! That reminds me of when I heard The Baroness Lady Thatcher speak and she took questions. She was asked "what do you think of Hillary Clinton." Her response was simply, "I don't."
Sounds like a good time was had by all!

Thanks very much for taking the effort to post this report.
I wonder what John M. Ashbrook----who dedicated his life to championing the politics of freedom, and the principles and practices of limited constitutional government--would make of the domestic and foreign policy of the Last Remaining Superpower on Earth?
Also I'm quite surprised--shocked actually--to read that Netanyahu, whom I had considered somewhat intelligent--said this:
"...In the first half of the twentieth century, the philosophy of Kant was not practiced, and totalitarian regimes were permitted to rise up to power without being checked by democracies...."
This is a shockingly stupid assertion. The totalitarianisms of the Twentieth Century are unthinkable without the ideology of democracy.
I'm beginning to think that Israeli Jews, who are involved in a genuine culture war, are filled with contempt for Americans. And when they are weary they can't hide it and say really stupid things hoping we won't notice if they sugar it with all the slogans and buzz words that we, supposedly, like to hear.
It seems to be working however. So perhaps we have earned their contempt....

..It was an incredibly timely opportunity to hear one of the most significant figures, and strongest advocates for democracy in the world, and it will be indelibly etched in our minds for the rest of our lives. ..It must be that. Your statement is oh! so true!. He is a remarkable man with great insight.

thanks for the synopsis, i've never had the pleasure of seeing bibi in person but the fact that he admires prez reagan and margaret thatcher is very good news. i'm feeling even better because of his respect for our president, we've got to remember that clinton was instrumental in bibi's loss and barak's ascendency.
To: ohioWfan
Oh, this is great! Thank you, thank you, thank you.
To: ohioWfan
What a great report. You could read hundreds of newspaper accounts about an event like this, and not one of them would give you this kind of clear account of what actually happened. Instead, they would pick a few sound-bites from Netanyahu's speech, throw a few barbs at Reagan and Thomas, and comment endlessly on these points in order to distort the event into proving some ideological purpose of their own. Straight news is very hard to come by.

Thank you so much for your report. It felt as tho we were there too!!!
Tonite I heard a good friend of clinton's, Mort Zuckerman, say that President Bush was a far better friend to Israel than the previous administration.

Just reading your account, I could feel the excitement of the evening...the electricity in the air! I'm so impressed with his message, and just as impressed with your recall of it and your presentation. Thanks so much for bringing it to us!
Now I'll sit and wait patiently for you to finish supper and tell us the joke...LOL
