"Not even close, the Gita is directed to a King on the verge of a gigantic battle. And there is no direction to kill in the name of God..."

You must have read the Gita about as closely as you read the Koran. In that same vein, I suppose you regard the Bible as a disjointed series of narratives about what assorted sheep herders did 2000 years ago?

Krishna teaches Arjuna on the eve of a great battle not to become paralyzed by the fact that friend and relatives are in both armies and are subject to death. He teaches him to distinguish between the temporal body and the immortal soul and how the demands of the two are not the same.

Outwardly performing all actions but inwardly renouncing their fruits, the wise man, purified by the fire of transcendental knowledge, attains peace, detachment, forebearance, spiritual knowledge and bliss.

As you state I have read it with the same degree of understanding as I did the Koran. And it is obvious that nothing in the Koran comes close to the wisdom and beauty of the Gita.

What do you think the story is about? Or have you not read either?

The Bible is the greatest piece of literature ever written as a minimum. Even agnostics and atheists have to admit that. There are throwaway lines of amazing wisdom and beauty. NOthing in the Koran comes close to the Bible and many of its stories are just sick, twisted versions of Bible stories. Ishmael (everyman's hand is against him and his hand is against every man- sayeth the Lord) is the favorite son while Isaac is cast out according to Mad Mo(piss be upon his head.)
