I've known several who started out to become a priest and later backed out. Wouldn't even attend any church functions afterwards. The "solution" will never happen. ALL present officials from and including the Pope on down to priests must walk away. Stay out 10 years or more. Have the general "membership", faithful, manage and run the church over a period of MANY years. Function with "ministers" much as the Protestant community does. Just plain ole preaching. It will take a long time, but otherwise the church will continue to spiral downward. For example, it is clear right now that regardless of the "talk" they intend to do NOTHING but ride it out and play for time. Same bad apples stay in the barrel.

Click here for nationwide information on how to locate and support your local Boy Scout Council. Also, see if your local United Way has stopped funding the Scouts.

The, umm, homosexual community must be going berserk. For all the support they have provided the left, they now find out that their agenda is waaaay down the priority scale compared to getting in a good lick on the Catholic Church.

Yeah, a bunch of Cardinals and Bishops screwed up royally by sweeping these creeps under the rug. Heads should roll, and they probably will. But there is no way that this media pile-on cannot affect the way people perceive homosexuals in general. After years of the left trying to get people to accept "gays", the whole effort gets tossed in the trash for one orgy of religion-bashing.

Tyrell is right: this vindicates everything the Boy Scouts have been saying. And ordinary people -- not media liberals perhaps, but actual folks with brains -- can see this immediately. It wasn't being a "priest" that made those guys creepy, it was the fact that they liked little boys. Only the dumbest media liberal could believe that they can attack these molesters as "priests," and not have people figure out that priests who like little boys are a lot like the other creeps who like little boys. And we should get them all away from kids, not just the ones that happened to join the priesthood.

Isn't it the Anglicans who are so proud of their gay clergy? I guess their turn in the barrel is coming up soon.

I've been waiting a long time and nobody else wants to ask the inevitable question so I guess I will:

Should gay priests be allowed to adopt Boy Scouts?

(says sinkspur "Only if they're married.")

Whaat does "okay" mean? I'd like him to be more specific. Is it legally 'okay'? The Boy Scouts have a constitutional right to exclude whomever they want, don't they?

Or does he mean morally 'okay'? The Scouts don't need a scandal in the Catholic Church to justify their decision.

Whatever one thinks of homosexuals is really irrelevant isn't it. The Scouts simply have the right to let in whom they want.
