It was live on Fox this afternoon, and it's also available on whitehouse.gov.
I thoroughly recommend taking a look at it. The President clearly deliniated Compassionate Conservatism with his usual passion for the subject!
One quote: It is compassionate to actively help our fellow citizens in need. It is conservative to insist on responsibility and results.
And Miss Marple, did you hear him?!! He said, "By being involved and by taking responsibility upon ourselves, we gain something else, as well: We contribute to the life of our country. We become more than taxpayers and occasional voters, we become citizens. Citizens, not spectators. Citizens who hear the call of duty, who stand up for their beliefs, who care for their families, who control their lives, and who treat their neightbors with respect and compassion. We discover a satisfaction that is only found in service, and we show our gratitude to America and to those who came before us.
I jumped up and cheered when he said this!!! This is a FABULOUS President!
You know, once you tick me off it is really hard to get on my good side again. I have Scottish ancestors and we hold grudges for a looooong time.
I did happen to hear this today, and it still stirs my heart, the same way it did on Jan 20, 2000.
WHOOOOO HOOOOO!! Wait until the dems digest that. Their only mode of operation is "good intentions". Rush must say that at least once every show. It's one of the first things I began to notice about the liberal way of thinking. It didn't matter if the plan worked; it was just the plan itself which was applauded.
