Joined by gubernatorial candidate Bill Simon, President Bush continued his trip on the left coast today as he spoke to a crowd in San Jose, CA regarding compassionate conservatism. Last night, Bush attended a fund raiser for Simon and raised $2.75 million dollars. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

When I saw him at ground zero with that megaphone. When I saw that I KNEW we had a President again. Just one of the many times I shed tears of thanks during those days.

It enfuriates me that both xlinton and Jimmy Carter have dared criticize a sitting President! IMO, they are without honor in having done so! I think they are trying to elevate themselves by tearing down someone else. They don't quite see that it only makes them look smaller.

Don't forget the one good thing Carter gave us:
Eight years of Ronald Reagan. :)

You missed one item that hit us personally: 22% mortgage interest!

I have to agree with your quote about "What would it profit a man, etc." My adult son has severe diabetes. If I had to decide right now to do something immoral to save his life, I WOULD NOT DO IT. I know nothing good could come from such a solution, for either him or for me.

I have been such a loyal listener for so many years that I can't believe I'm at this point with him. You wouldn't BE at this point with him (standing with me and countless others) if HE hadn't strayed from his core beliefs. And no one will ever convince him of that, because he is all-seeing, all-knowing. How does one correct a god when he refuses to listen? He has chosen his own path into isolation here, lined with a fat contract for enough years to tiptoe up on retirement. I often wonder how much that last contract played into his current outlook and apparent sense of invincibility.

So ... have you two been talking to each other online from different rooms in the same house tonight? If so, I think you set a new record for unusual occurrences on The Dose!

CCC: Good on you for mixing it up with the confused lefties.
I saw Ari Fleischer on Leno last night, and Ari said that his parents were very strong Democrats, but that he became a Republican [in heart during college] officially after graduation; he attributed it to some of the courses he took (but people are usually influential in this sort of thing, too). Anyway, when he said, "But when I started paying taxes, I really became a Republican," I could tell that the meaning of his words shot past and seemed a non sequitur to 2/3 to 3/4 of the audience -- you know, the ones who are fed liberal slop all day that says Uncle Sam owes you a free ride and that the checks for it are funded mysteriously by Congress, not hardworking American taxpayers supporting Congress' pork barrels. There was significant applause but it was not nearly the majority of the audience, from what I could tell.
Whenever a conservative can explain to a liberal and get that Light Bulb of Understanding to turn on, it is a good day for America. Go get 'em, CCC and mtngrl.

I guess what bothers me the most is Bruni takes the Presidents virtues and turns them into something negavtive. He presents the book as favorable and it isn't. I looked forward to that book and it was a major disappointment.
