Joined by gubernatorial candidate Bill Simon, President Bush continued his trip on the left coast today as he spoke to a crowd in San Jose, CA regarding compassionate conservatism. Last night, Bush attended a fund raiser for Simon and raised $2.75 million dollars. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

I'll bet rintense isn't the only one who thought up that pun in the aftermath of the turkey's antics.Yes, and knowing that the President has a sometimes, shall we say, 'irreverent' sense of humor, I'm sure that he had a great deal of fun with it, and I guarantee that the subject was brought up in his conversation with Laura that night!
(Yikes, it was hard to word that without saying something that might be taken the wrong way!)

I haven't a clue. And to think some people were suggesting him as a Supreme Court justice.
Only thing I can think of is that perhaps he knows someone or has someone in his family with a disease and has bought into the line that this research is crucial to curing those diseases.
Interesting though, W had a sister that the pro-cloning people claim would have been helped by this science and it didn't effect his decision.
Oh man, just when I thought it couldn't get worse...its DiFi.

Specter and a Kennedy....is Teddy really that gutless? I don't know or care much for Hatch, but that magic-bullet spindoctor Specter sure got my blood boil.

Oh CSPAN2 they've got the Senate hearings on gasoline prices!! Geez...if they are so concerned about gas prices why not cut the taxes? Combined with state taxes on gas, my gallon of gas costs twice as much as it should!
Man, I hate the Senate.

They are mixing apples and oranges. Leukemia treatments are a result of standard drug and radiation research and bone marrow transplants are simply blood transfusions.
The abortion people like to claim that bone marrow transplants are stem cells. Yeah, but with a difference, folks, the donor doesn't die.
So, we aren't against stem cells, we are against taking them away from someone and causing a death. If you can take them and not have a death or disability result, then you have a donor.

Personally I doubt it. The corrupt fix was in.You're absolutely right, of course. His numbers would have been higher, but the result was predetermined by corruption.
WHEN IS THIS SPEECH GOING TO BE ON?!! I WANT TO SET MY TAPE AND GO TO BED! GO AWAY, ORIN HATCH!!
Oh, sorry about that.......patriciaruth, would you mind posting that wonderful 'Shall we Dance' Inaugural pic you have? For some reason, I've never saved it, and I love it!

Nice photo! For a second there, I lost a couple of heartbeats. I thought you had found the shirtless picture of W! You shouldn't do that to a girl ya know? *whew*

Been listening to Hatch and the gang with one ear. Hatch said their son Cody was diagnosed with diabetes at age 2. Pretty sure is was his son, could be a grandson?? Anyway, about the insulin regimen and such careful monitoring etc. God help me, I don't know what I would do if one of my children were in dire medical predicaments. Hopefully, prayer would see me through, I hope so........

This one?

Ewww...Specter just said something like, "we won't create a child." I cannot believe this debate is even happening.
The science is so shaky and like you said, there are adult stem cells that show more promise without the eugenics and moral issues involved.

Must be a grandson.
The problem with this debate is that the promise of this research panning out has no legitimacy whatsoever. It is purely speculation and supposition at this point. We have managed to cure all sorts of diseases without resorting to this sort of scientific manipulation. I think we should stay that course.
It's over. Now Ashcroft and then W at 10:05 p.m.

So Hatch wants us to become Dr. Frankenstein in order to help his grandson or son Cody?
