Many interesting facts, which help to flesh out the caricature that Saddam has made of himself. However, it seems too flattering, a bit non-critical of the man. Sure, his many crimes against Iraqis and non-Iraqis are mentioned, but almost in passing.

That being said, Hussein is clearly a very complex character, one who had incredible potential. However, he blew it by allowing his delusions of grandeur overcome all sense of decency and any rational consideration of the best policies for his people and his country. How utterly tragic - not for him, but for his people and all of his other victims. How prosperous Iraq could have been! The could've become what Iran was in the process of becoming before the fall of the Shah - a moderate, prosperous, strong bastion against the medieval forces in that part of the world. Instead, Iraq has become the driving force behind most of the evil in the area.

Saddam's legacy will be that of just another failed tyrant - perhaps a rather long-lived one, but a failure nonetheless. And a brutal beast, responsible for the deaths of millions.
