UAE to finance restoration of Church of the Nativity

ABU DHABI, April 29, 2002. /From RIA Novosti correspondent Igor Kuznetsov/--The United Arab Emirates shall finance restoration works at Bethlehem's Church of the Nativity and the nearby Omar Mosque, both of which were damaged by Israeli fire, told journalists Sheikh Hamdan al-Nahayan, the State Foreign Minister and Chairman of the Red Crescent Society of the UAE.

Instructed by the UAE president, the Red Crescent Society has already discussed the issue with the Palestinian authorities. It was decided that repairs and restoration works would begin immediately after the pullout of Israeli troops from Bethlehem.

Sheikh Hamdan reminded journalists that Moslems had always respected and protected Christian shrines. Omar bin Khattab, the second Arab Caliph who ruled in the 7th century A.D., guaranteed inviolability of Christian churches and temples, and this rule was closely observed for centuries, he said. The minister added that no one had ever violated these historical and religious shrines in the entire history.

They've discussed restoring the Church of the Nativity with the Palestinian authorities? How about discussing it with the Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church? Muslims have already made a huge mess inside the Church. I don't want them to be the ones converting this place into a mosque.

Moslem History is a LIE... All one must do is look at the Christian sites in Kosovo, all most all have been desecrated or destroyed by the moslems in that country. Also look at Bosnia, same problem, or how about hindu and buddist sites in most of south east asia, Pakistan, Afganistan, Burma, the list goes on and on. Go back furthur in history and one can locate christian and jewish sites that have been destroyed by the moslems and their own "holy" sites built on top of the ruins of other religion's holy sites. Read on the history of Spain and the spread of the so called early Islam, all of it was spread by the sword. Fact is the religion of Islam is INTOLERANT of other religions. Non Islamic religions are not allowed to be taught or proselited in almost all of the Islamic world. Better, they are persecuted in almost all Islamic countries. Can anyone name a single Islamic country that is tolerant? I think not... Remember...Liberty or death.

BS!
I was incredulous, until I saw the conditional restoration of the Omar mosque.
If any "repairmen" show up, I do hope the Israeli tanks are close behind them.

Parsing the statement of these mangy dogs is becoming a full time job.
I notice they neglected to say the Islam always has protected Jewish religious sites.
That was not an oversight.

Giving funding to the Church makes sense to me as a political move. 15% of Palestinians are Christian. Enough said.

I have a couple points to make here:

The United Arab Emirates shall finance restoration works at Bethlehem's Church of the Nativity and the nearby Omar Mosque, both of which were damaged by Israeli fire,

As I recall, this is the mosque that was damaged when a pallie booby-trap exploded inside. It was not damaged by Israeli fire. And the damage to the Church of the Nativity has been done chiefly by the cretins inside, not by the Israelis.

The minister added that no one had ever violated these historical and religious shrines in the entire history.

Perhaps the minister would care to explain that abomination built by mohammedans that is currently (and hopefully, only temporarily) desecrating the Temple Mount.

As I recall, the Palestinians shot their way into the Church of the Nativity.

"The minister added that no one had ever violated these historical and religious shrines in the entire history."

Up to now. Actually, I don't believe this, why was the Church of the Nativity turned into a fortress?

Maybe they'll pay for the dozens of Synagogues in Jerusalem that the Arabs destroyed in 1948. Some of these Synagogues were hundreds of years old including the landmark Hurva built in 1705 of not which a brick was left standing.
