Some of the jargon they were talking about:
"Level three five zero" just means United 93 was cruising at 35,000 feet.
When you hear Cleveland Center say, "If you read me - Ident." He is asking for them to hit a button on the Transponder, or IFF (Identification Friend or Foe). The Ident button makes you light up like a Christmas tree on radar. The IFF code you are assigned is your "squawk."
I hope they allow pilots to be armed. Airline pilots are the most heavily screened profession in history. Medically, mentally, and for aptitude. One half of all airline pilots are former military officers.
The fact that some in the Dept of Transportation oppose arming pilots is madness.
Do a search of Israeli Airlines "El Al" (who arm their pilots) and see how many hijackings they have had.

By contrast, El Al planes are heavily guarded 24 hours a day, seven days a week, even during cleaning and maintenance. All El Al pilots are veterans of the Israeli air force and are trained in handling weapons and in hand-to-hand combat.
They do not, however, carry guns in the cockpit.
The cockpit has bulletproof doors activated by a keypad from inside the cockpit.

I've read several pieces that say El Al pilots are armed, and I've read just as many saying they're not. Maybe they like to keep folks guessing?
