No claim, but I think the expulsion was wrong. Things happen in the aftermath of war I admit. But launching a war for the purpose of expulsion just isn't my cup of tea, unless the situation is in extremis, and that was not the fact pattern presented here. The fact pattern was that Israel should consider exploiting the US war on Iraq while attention was diverted. No one bothered to address just how Israel taking advantage of that might impact the war against Iraq. I can see much fiercer resistance, more Arab support against us, and maybe even Turkey shutting the whole thing down.

Putting aside the morality of it all, the balancing of the risk reward ratio on this is totally lacking on this thread. But it should remind Bush to get a pledge from Israel that it will stand down prior to the war being initiated. Not that I think Israel has the slightest intention of indulging the walter mitty fantasies here, but as they say, trust but verify.

It was absolutely correct what was done to the Germans. They had fully supported Hitler in his maniacal dreams and they had to be forced to learn the hard way that there is a price to be paid for following genocidal leaders like Hitler.

With regard to the Palestinians, you must be forgetting that they cheered on Saddam when we fought the Gulf War. And they cheered and laughed and handed out candy, when 9/11 happened. As far as I am concerned, they already have 2 strikes against them. And when the third strike occurs, which it will given their overwhelming support for the terrorists in their midst, they are going to have to learn (just like the Japanese and the Germans learned before them) that there is a terrible price to be paid in these times for following genocidal leaders like Arafat and genocidal groups like Islamic Jihad, Hamas, Hezbollah and all of the other groups that make up Islamic Terrorists, Inc.

Isn't there at least some danger of Chinese destablization during a war with Iraq? In which case, Israel might be tempted by the transfer (non)solution?

Perhaps you remember that in exactly these circumstances Israel sat quietly under a hail of Scud missiles (sent to us as the local representative of the The Great Satan) while the US rained down smart bombs on Iraq?
