Urine doesn't contain DNA. (sure about that ?)

Even if true, the crotch of a pair of dirty underwear WILL CONTAIN DNA ! Urine stains or not !

Okay, I was wrong. They have a body now for blood to blood testing. Wonder how many markers they will check.

For some volunteers, it's 2nd time around

As Brenda and Damon van Dam spoke to volunteers searching for little Jahi Turner yesterday, one woman blurted out what seemed to be on everyone's mind.

"I hate to say this, but I didn't want to see any of you people anymore," said Kim MacRostie, of Ramona.

The 40-year-old homemaker's blunt honesty prompted laughter all around, releasing tension for several veterans of the heartbreaking search for Danielle van Dam.

About a dozen of those searchers joined the van Dams in front of the Balboa Park playground where Jahi's stepfather said he last saw him. They shared expertise they didn't ever want to use again.

Brenda van Dam mobilized the effort early yesterday, several said, and by the afternoon 130 people in nearly 20 teams had fanned out throughout the county, searching for Jahi and distributing fliers with the 2-year-old's picture.

She had spoken to the toddler's mother, Tameka Jones, she said, and wanted to do so again. "I hope I didn't scare her," Brenda van Dam said. "I know it's very scary right now."

Thousands of volunteers participated in the monthlong search for Danielle, 7, whose body was found Feb. 27, exactly two months ago to the day the van Dams began helping in the search for Jahi. David Westerfield, who lived two doors away from the van Dams, is facing trial on kidnapping and murder charges.

Volunteers in the new search barraged the van Dams with questions. "Where should we put fliers?" Everywhere, they were told, from Oceanside to the border and from the ocean to the desert.

"Should fliers be in Spanish?" Yes, Brenda van Dam said, and she knew someone who could do it, the translator who wrote the Spanish fliers about Danielle. "Would the Danielle Web site continue to be devoted to Jahi?" Yes, she said, but added that a separate site for Jahi would soon be in place.

The Danielle Web site can be found at http://daniellemissing.tripod.com/

The van Dams accepted hugs from grateful Jahi volunteers while pondering different strategies, from papering storefronts on Adams Avenue to moving closer to a phone in case Jones called. They chose to be there for Jones.

"You just gotta do the right thing when the time comes," Damon van Dam said. "Hopefully it will turn out differently."
