reporting that it's NOT an explosion, but a partial building collapse (that I guess sounded like an explosion?).Wouldn't be the first time a crummy old building collapsed in Manhattan.I hope no one got killed.

Do not know the cause -- Fox News.

Fox just reported that the NYFD has said that they believe that "some sort of explosion caused the partial collapse of this building" and that over 100 firefighters have been called to the scene.

Appears school teaches vocations in auto repair, refridgeration and welding. Welders lots of times use acetelene gas.
Q: How much acetelene does it take to blow out windows?
A: Not very much!
To: Judith Anne
Fox is still calling it an explosion.

I don't know why. I don't work for them, or else it would be. ;-)

Manhattan is a beautiful city. But being a native Californian, every time I visit I can't help but think how a 5.0 would destroy half the place.
To: Judith Anne
Just imagine how the people of NYC and the NYFD and NYPD must feel right now. God bless them....

The rock foundation that Manhattan is built on is not conducive to earthquakes.
