We cannot fault Jimmy Carter for the mission faliing. We can, however, fault him for not declaring war on the Iranians. If we went to war then, we might not have the problems with the Muslim world like we do now.

I think that Carter negotiated the release of the Iranian Embassy hostages, then he was thrown out of office. Just in time for President Reagan to welcome them home.
