Suspect shot when officer uses gun to tap on car window
A St. Petersburg man was shot early today after police approached him on suspicion of soliciting a prostitute and an officer's gun accidentally discharged. Tampa Police say Christopher Jackson, 29, had solicited an undercover female police officer posing as a prostitute on Nebraska Avenue and was then stopped by two police cruisers. Police say as they approached, he rolled up his car window, and "appeared to be reaching for something." Officer William Jordan, a four-year veteran, used his gun to tap on the car window and the gun accidentally went off. Jackson, who was shot once in the upper body, was taken to Tampa General Hospital, where he was in stable condition. The case is under investigation.

The 'four-year veteran' tapped on the window BARREL-first? Aw, c'mon folks, this is BS start to finish.
If he did, he's incompetent and should be sued into bankruptcy, and the city as well. If he claims to have 'tapped' grip-first or butt-first, he's a lying sack of weeds and should be jailed for perjury.
I suppose his attorney will make a claim that he tapped the window SIDE-first, and make a claim for workman's comp when he dinged his finger within the trigger-guard. (/sarcasm STILL on>

DUMMY, they made FLASHLIGHTS for tapping on windows. I've still got mine. Streamlight is the manufacturer, and its 20,000 candlepower.

After recovering, I have an idea the victim will have plenty of $,$$$,$$$.$$ to pay for upscale escorts rather than take his chances on the street.

Guns do not accidentally go off.
The cop accidentally pulled the trigger.
And yes he gets no doughnuts or coffee.

I am a female with a limited amount of experience with handguns, but I sure as hell wouldn't go tapping on anything with the barrel of a gun.

St. Petersburg Times:
The gun accidentally went off.Non-sociopathic, objective reporter: The officer accidentally shot the suspect.
If the St. Petersburg Times is not a sociopathically socialist indoctrination rag, please ignore the above. Thank you.

The Oregonian, March 23, 1996, p. B4
Official says officer's gun went off accidentally in killing
EUGENE - A police officer was using his loaded gun to break through a window in a suspect's car when the gun went off and the suspect was killed, according to Lane County District Attorney Doug Harcleroad.
Marvin Young, 43, was suspected of just having made a drug deal in a restaurant parking lot. He was unarmed, but he was trying to drive away from the scene in his car when police tried to arrest him March 13.
Officer Randy Berger, 36, said he tried to break the car window with his loaded .45-caliber pistol so he could grab Young, but the gun went off. Young died at the scene.
Hercleroad said that to "heighten the sense of impartiality" he had asked the Benton County district attorney's office to review the case.
[End]
This cop was eventually fired (after a long battle between the city and his union).
That's serious misuse of a weapon, and people who do that sort of thing, who are not cops, go to jail.
Cops should not be above the law.

Look on the bright side. Do you think this guy's going to pick up any more hookers? :) One things for sure, he'll be able to afford the best with the settlement he's going to get...

Police say as they approached, he rolled up his car window, and "appeared to be reaching for something." Of course they say this. They ALWAYS say this.
The case is under investigation.
Suuurrrreeee,it is. I would imagine they are waiting for the victim to come out of intensive care before they give him the choice of "sign this release and we won't charge you with a felony of some type",or "you are facing felony charges of attempted murder of a police officer, threatening a police officer, resisting arrest, and being ugly in a no-ugly zone". Once this decision is made, they will know which direction for the "investigation" to lead.

Can it be long until someone will try to get prostitution legalized because some cop shot some John? Of course not. Why would anyone do that, when it is clear that "being a accessory to prostitution" is a capital crime? It's obvious we shouldn't be allowing these adults to go around making their own decisions, right? What the hell are the benefits of living in a free country if you can't get the police to kill people who do things you don't like? (sarcasm)

Likely Story Pally. Sounds like the action of a transexual Officer. They are quick on the trigger.
